Hi all,

For the life of me can't find anywhere online where the glow plugs are on a BLB engine Audi A4 B7 2.0TDi 140.

Can someone please help by pointing me to where they are located?

Thanks in advance.

Inside the engine in the cylinder head...

You have to take the cover off with the 10 mm bolts, then you will see the 4 wires 1 for each plug pull them off to one side with pliers of some kind and you need a deep socket to undo the plugs, they are delicate as they are ceramic I think. If you drop one its broken.

Make sure the engine is warmed up when you take them out. Less chance of something breaking.

Thanks guys really appreciate all the help. Got the cam cover gasket ordered up so just waiting on that to come through.

Can I hyjack this thread for clarification on glow plugs please...

They're only to help starting on real cold days yes? If they were on the turn so to speak, once running the engine wouldn't have any running issues would it?

guess the answer is no, sorry :p

The glow plugs are to aid starting that's all,if the end drops off one or they become loose would be the only way they can effect running.Just Ben looking at different plugs listed for blb, and there is a big range of differences and it looks a minefield. Some list ceramic but as sdha points out this seems to be wrong, some list 4.4 volt,7 volt and 12volt so I would say its easy to get it wrong and blow a full set.

Just get them from stealer I doubt they are much more expensive, then at least you know you have the correct ones. There is a parts database sticky for b7's on the forum maybe take a look at that for part number then google it to get price voltage etc?
