Hi new to the forum and have recently purchased the bkd 140 Quattro version love the grip but it's boring me with the power.

So I was thinking about buying the bkd turbo with hybrid internals but when speaking to darkeside they said they aren't very reliable so fishing to see how true this is compared to there turbos they sell

The issues with hybrids usually comes about because people are trying to extract as much power as possible from the engine which is why they have chosen a modified turbo. Mapping a hybrid requires more knowledge of the turbo's capabilities and the tuner needs to stop within these boundaries. However the customer is usually wanting the most amount of power from the turbo so boost levels and EGT's etc are pushed a lot closer to the limit.
Quite often a hybrid with a larger compressor can get into trouble because the hot side is too small and you end up with excessive EGT's when running flat out for a period of time.A good turbo can be wrecked by a bad map. It's then easy to blame the turbo.

Couldn't agree more with your whole post, but I'd say a good turbo is ultimately wrecked by a bad tuner.

Well its a can be bad mapping but Tdi hybrids are often crap because if rubbish setup when built as vents are super tricky to set up and the use of poor parts as genuine parts are not available

Wot do u guys think to the bkd turbo with 170 internals less power I know but has anyone on here got one or used one think I should just wait for the turbo technics one :)

Any good boost pipes to cope with the more boost

I got a hybrid turbo from turbo technics they have been round for years top quality turbos and they are so cheep 478 + vat

Be careful & check there power specs as they supplied me a turbo based on a ballshxt power spec & caused me no end of problems with my tuner & car for about 8 months, until the head sales guy Ryan was fired from TT, then the main guy, after I made a very strong complaint about the turbo not working well, admitted it was about 40 bhp lower than it was sold as, which made sense as we were mapping to the spec we were give incorrectly.

Afaik the Technics hybrid is a 220bhp spec, not 260 max we were told.
