Q5 Bike carriers?

Hi, anyone use a rear bike carrier without towbar? Looking for options vs sticking them on the roof…
If rear then do you also need a light bar/number plate jobby?

That depends on the rack if you need the plate, only thing about boot ones is the rope hooks over the boot edge can pull down into the spoiler, paint work & damage as it has to be tight of course, so a towbar or roof is best as it's not just your car being safe it's cars behind of course.

Ah ok, don’t want to damage it, might just have to get new bars for the roof then

Or a towbar fitted, done a few, not cheap but the best solution tbh as bikes on off roof can cause damage that isn't cheap to fix.

My rear diffuser is bolted on over the towbar point now so not worth the hassle for the amount of times I’d use it
