bigger breaks upgrade

so after some research .. im going to go down the route of the cheaper version of a big brake kit;

which is .. mk1 TT caliper carriers & 312mm discs

my questions are.. I've read my standard calipers are fine to use, is this true?

also, the TT carriers im looking at come with calipers .. would using these calipers also be an option?

that way i can leave my standard system on while i refurb the TT calipers, then sell on the A4 ones once its all fitted or keep for a spare set etc ..
 
If you have the 288mm system ATM with the ATE calipers then these are the same as the TT.
The ATE calipers look like this, recogniseable with the springy wire on the front.
These were fitted to my Passat with some Yellowstuff pads many years ago.
 
yep those are exactly what mine look like .. so i can use either set of calipers with the TT carriers and 312mm discs?
 
just realised i put breaks instead of brakes in the title .. what an idiot!
