I fitted the Aliexpress under door projectors this afternoon

Audi 4 circle logo -

MQCZaZy.jpg

These had a good sharp logo image, altho' the actual light was a little looser in fitment than the OEM 1's
As I had fitted these to the front doors first, I left the door open to see how much heat they built up while on. I would estimate they were permanency on for around 5-7 minutes. When I removed the front the heatsink on the back of the bulbs was quite hot, but nothing that alarmed me greatly

quattro logo -

06O7GuT.jpg

As you can see in the pic, the 'q' & the 'o' (at the extremes) are blurry and not sharp. Not as bright as the fronts either. Again the actual light was a little looser in fitment than the OEM 1's

Having fitted both sets I realise they are not what I want. I quite like the look of the bright LED under door lights that have the upgraded bulbs from @t8ups
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...ck-edition-saloon.240456/page-11#post-2512106

The under door projectors are more a visual accessory than a practical one if I being honest & thats not what I wanted TBH
Both sets have now been removed from my S4

I would give the Audi 4 circle logo ones - 7.5/10
& the quatrro logo ones - 4/10

If I'd got the 'rings' lamps I don't think I could resist saying " this is the voice of the mysterons " every time I opened the door.......

That may well make no sense whatsoever to some on here - no apologies ;)

Do they rattle.
The ones I had did but I fixed them by taking them apart and applying double sided tape between the lense edges and outer case. This stopped the lense rattling in the housing.

@gary_a4_quattro - Yup, I remember the mysterons :D

@Scott.T - I wouldn't say they rattle round in the housing IMO, they're just not as tight fitting as the OEM 1's TBH

Just had my insurance reminder from, ahem, Saga, for my S4

Its gone up from £235.23 last year to £325.98 this year WTF !!!

I've done the whole compare the market, confused.com thing & Saga are still coming in around £15 cheaper than anyone else
I suppose one beenfit of using Saga is my total excess is only £100

That and the VED going up to £240

Not a happy Hound at the mo :(

Have you tried going direct to Quote Me Happy? They are the cheapest for the Mrs by a good £80.

@Bristle Hound I'm preparing for a nasty insurance shock this year. I did a midterm quote a while back and it wasn't pretty. With Aviva who always give me a good quote but nasty excess. Ying and yang. :(

@Bristle Hound, Col, these guys have been taking care of me for a few years now. I'm paying less than you and I'm in London.

Start with a message to @Tim@Prestige. :)
@jdp1962 - My 2016-17 policy was £235.23 with Saga
6000 miles/year, protected NCD, £100 excess, garaged. The wife & I to drive
The renewal for 2017-18 is £325.98 with the same above terms

Just out of interest Jeff, have you had a quote/your renewal for this year ?

I have a feeling I'm not the only B8.5 S4 owner who's going to be for a insurance renewal shock unfortunately :(

& thanks.I'll contact Tim for a quote
@scotty76 @Bristle Hound
Some more man math logic!
My car insurance on the B9 is cheaper!?
£85 refund! Just get a new car??
@Keef - Always seems the case with a new model

New car ? Yes please ! ;) :D

Jeeees, I should checked it with you lot first. My renewal with Aviva for two cars was ridiculous. Went to AIB and with Stage 2 remap I was quoted £650 (B8.5 S4) and £350 (B7 A4). Not bad as it was nearly £800 cheaper to Aviva but compared to yours looks like I have been rap**d .

Hey, Col, just checked and my last renewal was October 16, £369 (so more than yours, not less as I thought). That's for 8,500 miles, un-garaged, protected NCB, can't remember excess without looking it up. That was the same as the year before, but I know that won't happen this year.

Just booked my car in for its 2nd year service at the end of next month at my local Audi main dealers

I've been quoted £401.66
I don't know how that price figures with everyone else's 2nd year S4 service

Fortunately for me I negotiated the first 2 services free when I collected the car early
Its always nice to see the Service Manager's face when I present the letter outlining the free services when its time to pay lol

so perdy! Audi will kindly match service cost of an indi/local that uses OE parts. Saw it written on their web site last week when looking a the fixed cost service info.

Would have done this ^ if I was paying for the service

I got prices from £360-£474 for the year 2 service. Never had any luck getting them to price match the local indies though. :(

@scotty76, book it into Bexley Audi, get a quote from Sanspeed, get Bexley Audi to price match it, and come round to mine for coffee while they do it. Even with £35 worth of petrol, you'll still be close to £200 up. :)

....more man maths...
They've quoted you £401.66 and you have a golden ticket for a free service, so the value of the ticket = £401.66

Get the dealers to price match a cheaper Indy , then tell them to bank the difference in value towards the next service!
Boom..carol vorderman strikes again

I like your thinking @Keef

However this will be the last service my S4 gets while I have it as I intend to get rid just a couple of months before its 3rd birthday

I'm getting itchy feet now Jeff lol
But I've been told by SWMBO I've got to wait till my S4 is 3 years old :(
Ahhhh. That won't be happening here any time soon. I'm struggling to think of any car I'd want to swap my S4 for.

@jdp1962 - Love my S4 , but just fancy a change of car Jeff
Probably something smaller as I don't need a A4/S4 sized car anymore
But I've been known to change my mind lol

Ok, if it helps you make up your mind, sell the S4 and you are dead to me. :rage::rage:

Bit late with this but all become clear

Took my S4 into my supplying local Audi dealer for its 2nd year service on the 27th June displaying the 'Do Not Clean' signs all over the place lol

As a courtesy car, they gave me this with only 65 miles on the clock -
rRoMwpD.jpg

(Mk3 TT S-line 2 litre 230bhp Fwd)

So had a nice play in it, but TBH was little disappointed in how it performed. My wife has a 5 door MINI Cooper S, which has a 192bhp 2 litre petrol turbo engine, which felt a lot quicker than the TT even when her MINI had the same mileage on
Still the mk3 TT's are nice cars mind

Went to collect my S4 in the afternoon with my 'free servicing' letter in my pocket
Handed the keys to the TT over & was presented with a bill for £449.54 for the service on my car. Apparently as part of 2nd service the pollen filter needs changing hence the additional amount from what I was quoted
It sure took the smile off the 'Service Advisors' face when I handed the letter over lol. She went to the Service Manager who swiftly printed a £0.00 invoice off for me

Efy5zZB.jpg

Went off to inspect my car with the Service Advisor & :wtf: they'd kerbed the FOS wheel !!!

LtO2jxA.jpg

It looks to me as tho' they have run the car along a kerb edge as opposed to a 'bounced of the kerb' kerbing. The picture doesn't show it fully, but the damage was approx. a rotors spoke width, so around a fifth of the wheel

After taking a (very) deep breath it was back in to see the Service Manager, who after viewing on site pic's they take before a service and CCTV footage around the Dealership admitted liability straight away
They said they would like the chance to repair it with an off site wheel refurber that had just done an Audi R8 GT's wheels for them

A week late they had my S4 overnight and lent me a 65 plate 5500 mile B9 A4 Avant diesel S-line

Went to collect the car the following day and the repaired wheel was now silver & not the OEM matt titanium finish ! To be fair he had done an excellent job of repairing the wheel but I think he may have been colour blind lol

The Service Manager got the Dealer Principal involved who gave me 2 options
1. Refurb all 4 wheels, or
2. Brand new wheel

I took option 2.
I've been away for a weeks holiday in Menorca & only recently got back so been another 10 days
This morning the Dealer fitted the new wheel, which I believe but will be corrected if I'm wrong, was around £800 !

The Dealer has apologised for this but to date they have offered me nothing else, other than to return my car to its original condition when I took it in for servicing. Yes I know I didn't have to pay for the service but to be fair that was organised/arranged 2 years ago

I'm interested to see if I get any further contact from them

I've had 4 new Audi's from this Dealer in the last 15 years & always had my servicing/MOT's done here but this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth TBH. Time for a change next time me thinks

Thanks for reading !
