After using the A4Avant to tow for around 6 months the wife & I decided we needed a bigger, more powerful, AWD tow car Some of you will know I'm a great advocate of PCH but I have struggled in vane to find a SUV which full fills my needs as a tow car My selection was narrowed down to the X3, a Q5, a XC60 & a VW Tiguan This was quickly narrowed down to the X3 & the Q5 I had made contact via email with both dealers offering the best deals on respective cars 3 phone calls to the Audi 'Sales Executive' & I'm still waiting for him to call me back. He was always on the phone & was going to ring me back So Audi lost due to the lack of interest The wife & I went into our local BMW dealership to have a look at a new X3 as I honestly hadn't seen one on the road. I took my best deal in with me just to offer them the business if they could match/beat the deal I had The killer with BMW at the mo is their 2.9% APR finance for the last 1/4 of 2019 I was managed to negotiate a 20% discount off list & got a 'healthy' price for the A4 Avant too Only managed to get a full tank of diesel out of them but still ... So all in all, the Hound is a happy dawg Anyway they matched the deal & were able to trace a car that was on the ship from Germany with my exact spec! Hopefully I should be in the new X3 mid November I'm part ex'ing the Avant in the deal. Great trade in price as well I chose the solid alpine white as I don't like any of the other X3 colours, but I appreciate we are all different Spec MY20 G01 BMW X3 xDrive 20d M Sport 190ps & 400nm torque Solid alpine white Auto transmission AWD Vernasca leather - black with grey contrast stitching Aluminium Rhombicle interior trim with Pearl Chrome trim finisher BMW live cockpit professional with 12.3" instrument display & a 10.25" control display with ID7 Options M Sport Plus package - 20" M light alloy Double-spoke style 699 M wheels, Orbit Grey with mixed tyres, front 8J x 20 with 245/45 R20 tyres, rear 9.5J x 20 with 275/40 R20 tyres - Adaptive suspension - M seat belts - BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line with extended contents - Dynamic safety - Sun protection glass - M Sport braking system - Variable sport steering Towbar, electrically folding Must admit I'm quite surprised how much standard kit it has - Power tailgate Adaptive LED headlights Power foldy anti dazzle mirrors F & r parking sensors with rear camera Heated front seats Acoustic glazing Ambient lighting Parking assistant (Park Assist includes the Reversing Assist camera, lateral parking aid, as well as Active Park Distance Control (PDC) I'm sure there's more but I just haven't had enough time to read up on it yet lol Haven't owned a BMW since 2002 so quite interested to see how things go More info as & when I get it
Sounds nice! Look forward to some pictures. The electric folding towbars are amazing, really neat bit of kit.
Sounds tasty! At this rate we should rebrand the site to bmw-sport lol Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
@AndrewW - Cheers A few vids on YT with the electric towbar which have been keeping me amused Thanks @Sandra @Adam14 - Cheers Not for me to say ... lol @Bulldog @X3man - Its a thought, but I've used the BH username for around 17 years on various Forum's now so not quite ready for a change, yet
Congrats on the new purchase @Bristle Hound! Shocking service from Audi then!? It is sad to hear this after giving them many chances, but BMW have seriously upped their game. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
@SPIKE_S3 - Thanks Surprised at Audi's lack of responce. But coupled with the my local Audi's attitude may be a good time to change for me Still staying on ASN tho' - if I'm wanted
Well done on the new purchase, It sounds really nice . I can't wait for the new car detail photos. I would visit the Audi non car salesperson when you collect the car just to let them know you have a new car .
@Pinky1959 - Cheers Just having a think at the mo over what detailing products to use Gonna be simple, but no ceramics Funny that I did think the same Lol Why thank you @Sandra
Congrats on the X3 BH. It looks like a cracking spec. I must admit that I was also a bit surprised with how comfortable it was after driving a mate's X3 earlier in the year when I borrowed it to pick up family from Heathrow.
I went to my local garage years ago to see about changing my car and asked the salesman ( who is a friend ) If they had any Suzuki (Yea I know ! ! ! ) XL 7 's, He said NO and didn't offer top look for one , So I went to Paisley (90 miles away ) and found a nearly new one , next day I went to garage for lottery and he came out showroom aghast that I had got one, I stated he didn't offer to check so I went and got it elsewhere and got a far better deal than he would have given me he wasn't pleased . I was quite chuffed that he noticed and I bet if anyone asks for cars now he will check.
Awesome mate, I'm really enjoying mine and it has surprised me on the "rough" stuff. Great spec and the White does look good in the flesh.
I'd definitely do it, a bit like the old Jim Bowen phrase "look what you could have won" i.e. another sale .
It’s only on its way, and already you have changed your banners and signature!! Exciting times.....still aiming for mid Nov?
@Jcbmally - PSML @X3man - Agreed lol @SPIKE_S3 - Got to be done I'm afraid lol I have a feeling its more likely to be early November but we shall see
Audi are just as bad - wife wanted a new A1 instead of her 3 year old Fiesta - we walked into showroom to be set upon by a young chap salesman - asked if he could help so wife piped up she wanted a price for a A1 Sport 1.4 FSI - in Utopia Blue with Comfort Pack - black seat interior - no trade in Cash buyer. He turned to me and said they don't do that colour and why don't you choose a finance package - I said it is her car so you should be dealing with her - which he said - ah ha sir - but what does she know . At that point she about turned and walked out - where are you going sir - following my wife to go to Audi **** with our business. Guess what was siting in our driveway 3 months later to order Nothing worse than a woman's scorn.
@Bristle Hound Nice one mate - didn't see that one coming Car & spec sounds superb - you just want another car to detail, I know you lol Not long to wait either which is a bonus so lookimg forward to pics and collection thoughts
@Snake Pliskin - Thanks buddy I’m going to keep this detail a simple one, nothing fancy. Not the best of time to do a new car detail but I’m sure I’ll manage lol Having had my old ibis white A4 for 5 1/2 years before it made way for the S4 I know how easy it is to keep a white car. The plan is the X3 is a keeper (yes yes I know lol). SWMBO is already eyeing up bigger caravans as she knows we can tow something a lot bigger now
Sounds ace, congrats on the new car mate! I too have a new BMW but a little smaller in the form of a Mini Cooper S
Col, back to the X3 rubber mats, I know they are pricey, but they are the b*llocks. Just fitted mine yesterday ready for winter - Will take a pic and post at some point
@DieselJake - Thanks buddy Love the MINI’s - Wife has had a few the last being a 5 door Cooper S which was a fab drive @X3man - Your Not the first to say this lol I’m going to push the supplying dealer but I’m not hopeful TBH Can’t see me paying £110+ for some rubber mats Nev Pic would be good non the less @jdp1962 - Cheers Jeff
I got the boot liner chucked in, and managed to get the mats for about £70, which I was told was under cost
Yeah white (& silver) are easy to keep looking clean aren’t they. So ... I would like you define ‘your definition’ of ‘keeper’ ... just exactly what is this timeframe lol
@X3man - Nice one My supplying dealer isn’t playing, yet lol @Snake Pliskin - Very true Taking the fifth on the ‘keeper’ question lol Definitely Nev
