Basic sound system?

So I took delivery of my s3 and started tweeting the audio tone, but I can only adjust the bass and hi's. No mid range, is this something I can adjust in the hidden menu?

If not I have to say I'm missing the basic golf sound system already :D

Shhh don't mention the G word, or that'll be another thread ruined ;)

Hahaha, the G word was terrible hence why I come to the A word!! LOL. It's not a deal breaker as the exhaust has a pretty good soundtrack anyway :D but it would of been nice just the get rid of the mid range as I feel it makes audio sound terrible

The standard default audio system is just that - a good basic sound system with just bass and treble controls.
If you want more control you need Audi system or B & O.

Not wishing to rub salt in the wounds but I think the fact that Audi offer 2 upgrades for sound is a bit of a clue that the basic system isn't likely to be all that.

Having said that some would have us believe that the Audi sound system is sh1t too!! ;) (and the B&O crackles for some)

My loaner S3 has just the basic system and I'm missing my B&O system so much. Just turning it off now with frustration.

Is it worse than any other standard factory fitted unit?

I had the base model single CD unit in my Toyota for 9 years and to be fair I thought it was ok. No bells and whistles obviously but sound quality was decent enough. Only recently changed to a Pioneer double din which did improve it substantially.

To be honest I don't know how it compares to other standard systems, I'm spoilt I guess as I always go for the top systems as I spend allot of time motorway driving and it important to me to be immersed.

Like most things in life id say the basic is just there as a starter, like a plain burger it will stop your hunger and some people are ok with that, but most people would add cheese and relish for the bot more taste, then there's the people that enjoy their burger and add beacon, pickles and jalapeño's.

Same applies to your stereo system, if you want to just fill a void go basic, but not many would.

Yeh I'm tempted to by a alpine inline amp and hide it. The standard system in my golf mk7 was good very adjustable, thinking it's still a vag product went for the standard again, but it's nowhere near.

I've biased the fade to the back which seems to be bass-ier. and tweeked the songs in iTunes equaliser. and re applied to sd card. seems to be better. Just a heads up for those with basic sound

Ok I need to correct myself! Been playing with the standard system and got it sounding pretty ok now, as bob says above if you bias to the rear one or two notches, put the base on +2 and mid range on 0 with about 3 gala it sounds good.

I will say that's at around 2 thirds volume and goes a little out after that but it's good enough for me there. Not got the range as the B&O still but I think it's pretty close now.
