B8 Key Fob Inoperative

Morning All,

As per the title, my spare key is completely inoperative, i've changed the battery for a new CR2032 & still nothing, won't unlock or lock etc, the red light doesn't illuminate, however it will start the car when in the ignition.

Is their a simple way to re-progamme it? Or am I facing a trip to the dealers?

Iv had this problem with my b7 a couple of times now . All I do is get in the car put the key in the ignition and turn the car on but don t start it . Then take the key out and start pressing the lock and unlock button on the door and then do the same with the key. Just keep doing this for s couple of minutes . Back and forth between the fob and door button . Eventually it figures out that the key belongs to the car .
