Help Please B8.5 TDI Dipstick

Does your engine have a dipstick tube with just a cap on it, and no dipstick in the tube?
I haven't been able to find one, and I've tried several. They are either too short or too long, or just won't go into the tube.
My engine number is CAG 198XXX (X=an integer)

Whilst it's not a permanent solution (bonnet won't close with it in the tube) it should provide an accurate reading.

I would not want to permanently leave the dipstick in the tube.

I have already tried one of those, and it gets stuck about 2/3 of the way down.
It's only flexible in one direction. It just isn't flexible enough.
