Thought I would share my story, car wasn't running right, no codes but but I could tell it was down on power, checked the vacuum system and found no problems, everything working as it should. Decided to do some logs on it and discovered

Max airflow 148g/sec per bank
Timing retarding by 8/10 degrees across the rev range

Obviously this wasn't good, spoke to MRC and they recommended that I get a carbon clean done, as they have seen carbon buildup not only restricting airflow but causing a lot of knock....

Booked it in to my friendly mechanic (MRC is not that handy to Belfast) to get it cleaned (see pics below)

Collected the car after my holiday and to say I am pleased is an understatement, car has completely changed, pulls a lot better and harder through the rev range. Sounds a lot happier as well.

Logged it again

Max air flow 161g/sec
Timing not retarding

In my engine carbon was causing a significant decrease in performance by lowering airflow and causing the timing to be retarded.
