B6 Cab boot lock --- causing alarm probs

Coming home from a vw show yesterday, the dash was showing that my boot was open.
Numberous opening and closing of the boot didn't effect this dash warning light.

Once home, car unloaded and the dash light went out, I even opened the cab roof that worked fine, car locked and all good.

1am alarm sounds.... reset all good
1.15am sounds again
2.30am again
and again
and again
and again

its now 4am, I can't lock the car as the alarm goes off...... THE DASH IS SHOWING THE BOOT OPEN

Im guessing the boot lock switch is goosed????

can I lock the car manually?

Check the wiring in the rubber boots that go into the boot lid as they can break and short together

mine did this, when I looked the jet washer was leaking water onto the connector and it had rusted. quick rub down to remove the rust and it works fine.
