B&O with and without tech pack

Or conversely ****** people off because of a fault they have and don't know there is a solution for, proper software testing should stop the introduction of new bugs.... :grimacing:
My job is software/hardware testing so yes I agree but bug free code is like, impossible :p
Customers actually pay my company to test the products we make (in simplified terms). Gotta expect bugs :)

Audi have had my car for four days and they finally called me today saying an update has been done which has fixed the settings from resetting! Will let you know if it actually works.

I went for the first service today and complained about this two issues (resetting settings and no subwoofer controls), telling that other owners had these solved by an update. After a couple of hours, the dealership called to tell me that indeed there's an update, but needs to order an SD card with the updated software. Will let you know in a few days ow it goes. My software version at the momen is 0679.

Just had my first service done 4,000 miles covered @ Preston Audi.
Washers reset so all 6 jets hit the screen £215.Also software update for my B&O,to
stop the reset aggro (no tech pack) allsorted PLUS Sub setting RESULT !
ALL IN THE SAME DAY

Small update... A couple of days ago I upgraded the software to version 0213 and can confirm that the subwoofer settings are now present and that the audio setting did not reset for the past 5 days.

Oddly however the handsfree option is not booting up, (dealership has been notified to find a solution, maybe the software needs to be reset or re-installed).

Other things I noted

1) The auto window winder (up/down) on pressing the button on the door handle was not working and even the auto open and close with the central lock. I reset the central lock settings and the problem was solved
2) Connection manager had to be reset in order to re-enable android auto

I had my car in at Edinburgh Audi for a battery change (the car is 1yr old - go figure!) and mentioned the same issues with no sub control etc. At first I was told there is no update available for my car, then I was told it was a feature of *** not to have it. I asked to speak so to the master tech but he wasn’t available. Is there an Technical Bulletin for this issue on the A4 (I realise this is an A3 thread..) I could point him to? Clearly other people have been getting this issue resolved!

And to those who have - are you all B&O, or ***?

Haha deja vu for me. I heard the exact same thing and I have B&O. That was a year ago though but I wouldn't be surprised to hear this from most Audi dealers.

“You seem awfully knowledgeable about this topic, sir!”

I used the term TSB - technical service bulletin.

“You’ve lost me with your technical jargon, there”.

*sigh*

For me, I went there and told them about the problem then they booked my car in for the whole day. When I dropped it off, I told them the issue and that there was a microSD card or USB they had to order for the update and I even had the part number with me. The master tech was listening too but they ignored it and just ran diagnostics, reset the system and nothing else. In the afternoon they called me saying they found nothing but want to keep it for another day so they can compare it to other S3's they have. I refused and got my car back because they'd just be useless.

Yeah, that's indeed pretty irritating. With me they were kinda just saying "is there a recall out?". *Must be a recall for us to fix it..*

Well, no. Why would there be a safety recall for that? It's a software fault - something Audi is aware of, but a fault none the less!

You're not the only one beating his head against a brick wall, old fruit.

Maybe I can ask the question a slightly different way...

Is there anyone on here who has an ***-equipped car with a missing subwoofer control which was corrected with a dealer-applied software update?

If you do - and it doesn't have to be an A3, because this affected cars other than just A3s - please. let me and Mr Ohms know.

I've had my non tech B&O updated software a couple of months now. Sub control there and the system has not lost settings since.

However, the * button on the steering wheel that changes drive select now seems to work even less of the time and the MMI screen with the single track showing time passed/remaining has been lost.

B&O does sound better though which I would rather have than the other stuff.

No issues with the window switches or anything else as far as I'm aware, and I'm not really interested or use all the phone tech and stuff so can't comment on that.

I just got mine updated and the subwoofer control is present, finally :). The new version is 1156 and the previous one was 0679. Anyone with this new version around?

I did notice that after my battery change the driver side window no longer automatically goes down. You gotta press and hold. No idea why!

Ohms go in the MMI/car settings/central lock. There should be an option for open window with long press. Select/deselect the current option. Switch off the car and re-select it. This should be enough to reset the setting. At least this worked for me after updating the software of the MMI.

Ah sweet - didn’t notice that setting before. Thanks man!

@ohms12 I had a chat over the phone with the electronics technician of Audi here in Malta and told me that after you remove the battery the windows need to be re-calibrated. To do this you simply close the windows and then do 3 clicks with the window closing switch. This will teach the computer on the closed position of the window and will enable the automatic fully close and open functions.

I'll try that today. I went to look for the setting you mentioned before - which isn't in my MMI!

Thanks for the help.

The saga continues... As you might remember i updated the MMI to fix the audio setting reset issue and include the subwoofer option. The last time I visited the dealership I ended with the telephone option not working. Apparently there is a service bulletin that the telephone option can get corrupted during installation and a software patch is available. I had this installed today and nothing happened the telephone option is still unavailable. Audi are creating a ticket to solve the problem. It seems that the software is not installing correctly. Now either there is a newer version available or else they will replace the whole MMI with the software pre-loaded... let's see

So the car has been with the dealership for the past 3 days whist I was abroad to rectify the issue and the final outcome is that I need a new MMI module. The MMI was re-flashed a number of times and patches applied but the software is getting corrupted every time. The new MMI module is scheduled to arrive later on today however installation will have to wait a few days

Finally the saga is officially over. I'm now running software version 0213 which is the latest software version for my car configuration. The local Audi dealership has changed the MMI unit under warranty and all the features are now fully functional.

The software now includes the subwoofer settings and can confirm that he settings do not reset. Was running the same software on the previous MMI I had and after 2 weeks the settings never reset them selves.

Points to keep in mind for all those of you who have not yet updated their software version on the MMI.

1) Apparently there are some known bugs by Audi which when applying the update result in corruption of the software, specifically the Bluetooth hands-free part of the software. There are some software patches that need to be installed as well to rectify this issue.

2) If you are unlucky like me and the software update never occurs properly then you might need to replace the MMI. If you are still covered by warranty then you will save quite a lot of money.

3) The configuration of the MMI to fit your specific build is somewhat lengthy, the technician who worked on my car needed a few hours to reconfigure all the options I had

I took over 3 months to have the issue settled but it was worth it.

And you are nav or non-nav?

Finally got our A3 updated in the USA. Took a year, but wow - what a difference with the subwoofer adjustments now. Night and day difference!

Anyone else have any experience with B&O with and without tech pack? Audi description says you get the extra Dolby surround sound 5.1 with the tech pack, personally I noticed a big difference. I had an s3 without tech and I was a little dissapointed with th sound. I've just picked up a new s3 with tech and it sounds so much crisper. Wonder if tech ups the amps too?
Hi I had pfl s3 with b+o no tech pack, then a fl with b+o with tech pack, I can tell you for sure the tech pack with b+o gives you a upgraded sub and also different tweeters up front, the upgraded sub is tuned to play sub bass down to 30htz where as the normal sub is tuned for giving the punchier bass around 100htz. Also the fl doesn’t come with sub level control if you have b+o with tech. I noticed it’s worth turning the auto volume control onto max with the upgraded sub and it seems to help fill out the low end nicely. 1 more thing the upgraded version needs to warm up a bit before the sub comes to life-dealer thought it didn’t sound that good but he never waited for the sub to warm up and come on probably, hope that helps cheers

Hi guys!
I was able to update the firmware on MIB2 std with B&O.
From ver. MST2_EU_AU_P0617D (0740) to ver MTS2_EU_AU_P0962D (0962) using VAG TPI 2048297/5
The B&O amplifier firmware was updated automatically during MMI update.
Now I have a subwoofer level adjustment.

Radio PN before update - 81A035840 after update - 81A035840D
AMP PN before - 81A035466 after update - 81A035466B

I can't say that the sound has changed for the better after the update, rather the opposite. Perhaps due to the fact that I updated the radio unit with a HW ver 710 below the minimum required. Now I'm in big trouble finding the config file (parametrs). In automatic mode, the config file is not unloaded from the VAG server. Most likely I will change the radio unit. So far I have not been able to find how i can downgrade software versions at OEM state.

i've got a 2018 convertible with tech and sound and comfort , so b & o and virtual cockpit, nav etc . the software version is 1168 and don't have subwoofer control ,can i get an update to subwoofer control .

Hey alexey how can i contact you please ? I have some questions to you

HI all,

Slightly wrong section I know, but I've just bought my first Audi (A6 c7 2013).
The car is a Japanese import but came with the B&O sound system but the controls don't have a dedicated sub-woofer control.
I'm keen to have this added.
If i take this to a dealer in the UK, given the age of the car now and it's import status, I imagine they won't look at it without a significant bill.
Are there any ways in which I can update the software DIY or any independents that can? The only infortainment specialist I've spoken to local to me suggested that B&O systems wouldn't have a subwoofer setting. Glad to know others have had one added though....

Don’t know if this will help you but the guy is very clever in updating MMI on Audis and has some good work arounds
