AVS Servicing - Post your quotes and dealers here.

Used, mine was 5 years old when I bought it. I don't like the experience of going to Audi, talking to some temp in a cheap suit about cars is painful.

Sorry bud I forgot about this, it felt like long ago lol

Total came to around 500-550.

I would be happy sticking to Audi, first experience they damaged by wheel and laughed at me, second experience they left grease everywhere on the engine.

I liked the courtesy car, but anyway its not worth the disrespect and generally being treated like ****

I've got a service coming up but i'm not 100% sure which one I need. My last one 2 years ago and the book says it was an inspection service with no additional work. However on my invoice it says I had oil/air/fuel/pollen filters, which would make it a full service? Is that the main difference?

Also how much should an inspection service cost these days?

The service book should show what the first service was. There will be a tick in one of the boxes identifying long-life or inspection.

Sounds like the last service was a full service so if the DIS is telling you another is due (after 2 years) then you are on long life.

How many mile has it done ?

The longlife service box is ticked. So if i'm due an inspection service is that just oil and oil filter change plus checking it over? It has done 71,500 (last service 53,485 2 years ago).

You are due a full long life service ( 2 years or 20k). Also you need to check what additional (extra cost) works are listed for 60k miles as that will not have been done at 53k.

Finally, as the car is 7 years old you need to make sure the cambelt/water pump etc. has been replaced. If not I suggest you have that done as well.

Long life service at an indie. should be about £190 and cambelt will be about £300 ish. Can't remember exactly.

If you are on long life servicing the inspection service does not apply !

So if you're on longlife servicing it's always a full service including all the filters etc? I had the cambelt and waterpump done at the last service.

Yes, every 2 years or 20k. If your driving style/conditions are out of the ordinary the computer will calculate lesser intervals but not longer !

Make sure the 'extra' bits are done when necessary. Page 13/14 of the service book if I remember correctly.

All a bit confusing! I think my book has just been filled out wrong on the last service. The independent garage I phoned quoted £218 including an MOT for an inspection service and about an extra £80 for a full service - this sound right?

MOT is £45-50. That makes LL service about £250 ish.

I assume it's a VAG specialist indie ? Take the book to them and get them to identify the exact cost against each item that they reckon is required.

On the other hand £250 over two years for an Audi service is really for nothing isn't it? Less that the road tax !!!!!

Yes an independent VW and Audi specialist. Good point, is pretty cheap considering! Thanks for you help and info!

Can anyone recommend me a garage for my S3? I live in Nottm but don’t mind a bit of a travel, say Derbys or Leics, but nothing over 90 mins travel.
My local Sytner (rob you blind £200 an hour) has now opted out of fixed price servicing and service plans, so I cannot even get that!
Do you any of you get fixed price servicing anywhere near me?
Recommend anyone?
Help! lol ;)

Do it yourself?
Air, pollen and oil filters approx £30 : sump plug or copper washer £3 : Vag spec Oil £25 : Screen wash £4 for 5litres : check and clean brakes £0 :
If you can’t do it yourself then you are at the mercy of a garage or main dealer and pay more.
