Mines due a service very soon, luckily I know someone who works for Peugeot and I'm supplying the parts but will cost me about £100 for the lot and he is picking my car up servicing it and bringing it back to my door step how nice Audi was a joke they wanted £400 so a bargain and a Peugeot stamp better than my local garage.

I got my car up and running now and time to service:)

Car: A3 3.2 DSG 2004

Victoria Audi

Oil change + filter = 277
DSG oil + filter = 220
Haldex Oil only = 88

Slough Audi

Oil change + filter = 299.78
DSG oil + filter = 215
Haldex Oil only = 80.70

Russell Automotive (recommended by Ads)

Oil change + filter = 180
DSG oil + filter = 145
Haldex Oil only =50 (95 with filter)

Question: is it worth going to Audi Stealership just for that entry in electronic service history or go for Independent with regular service book stamp?

****** hell.. that DSG oil service has increased at Audi. Was about £170 less than a year ago at Chinford Audi.

In the end I had mine done at Russell Automotive for £145.

As for the stamp.... Russell Automotive's stamp looks a lot like Audi's.. it even has four rings as the logo (the rings are not linked together like the audi logo though). But to the untrained eye you could think it's just an audi stamp.

I recommend them.

In my opinion it doesn't matter how the service was done as long as it was done the right way. In regards to motorcycles for example, I never look and service book but look through invoices and see what was done. If someone does the service himself and I can see he has experience and 4-5 bikes in garage I know you can trust this kind of person. I know cars are different but all my previous cars I was doing service myself and kept the invoices. My brother is car mechanic and only thing stopping me from doing service on audi is me missing few tools.

When it comes to resale people will want to see stamped service book aswell thats why I need to go to some approved garage to get it done.

I think I will go Russell Automotive then. Not worth paying extra for Audi better looking stamp:p

Guys has anyone had just brake fluid change done @ Audi? If so is it around the £53 mark?

Quick servicing question!, how often do they need servicing is it like the q7's where it tells you in the dis like 1200 miles or 507 days or is it every 10k

done small service in Russell Automotive

DSG + filter - 150
Haldex + filter - 95

I changed the oil myself when I got the car, will be doing spark plugs and air filter on my own.

Russell Automotive were very helpful, pointed bad things in the car and I even they did some other little fixes after my approval.

Deutschtek in Glasgow city centre (near Charing cross)
Long life service/big service £135
Timing belt and waterpump £300
Total cost including VAT/ labour/parts/tea etc £460

I know the maths doesn't work out right there but I didn't question it as it was a good price compared to others I called.

And brake fluid change. On my a3 v6 Quattro at 64k.

East Kent Audi- £261.14 / £81.31
Maidstone Audi- £361.83 / £81.31
S line an independent specialist in ashford- £150 / £38

Mmm, tough choice. Has anybody had any dealings with these as I can't find any reviews on line.

hello folks

question if I may.

Own a 10-plate (apr 2010) A3 Black Edition, roughly 20 months old. I have done VERY little mileage-wise - currently 4300miles!

I think the 'Service Due' indicator came on at around 3k. Was booked in to do a service today at Docklands, but read this thread and realised that a) given the low mileage and b) the car seems mechanically sound, why bother doing it now?

Should I wait until it's 2nd birthday (Apr 2012)? By then, the mileage will probably be about 5500miles. My main concern is that a future buyer won't be put off by the lack of a service within 2 years (but then again, the ultra low mileage probably count for more)

Would consider a non-AUDI garage, but the stamp is probably worth the extra £150

Thoughts / advice? Any suggestions for cheaper dealers than Docklands in the London area also appreciated!
cheers

finchley road audi quoting:

Whetstone Audi quoting £322 - they use Castrol H Longlife oil apparently

Just had a full service on the V6 at AMD Essex. Cost £245 + Vat, so £294 all in. That included a full health check with a print out of the details, and they reset my airbag light for me. Great customer service and took pretty much as long as they predicted. Pity the 3 hours in lakeside with the other half cost me another £100 on top! Definitely a garage i'll be using again.

Apart from the oil and the service intervals - what are the main differences between the Long Life service or a 'fixed' service?

Just bought an A3 2.0 TDI with 53k miles.
Last Long Life service done at 45k miles in Feb 2010!

Not sure which road to go down...

MTRL

Split Grill!
Just had cambelt and water pump changed here:

VW Servicing and Audi SEAT Skoda in Coventry and Warwickshire

Based in coventry

Cambelt change £275
Water pump change £50

The did a full engine flush and coolant change

Had a mini as a curtousy car for the day, £5 charge to be put on their insurance.

Took about 6 hours.

They noticed that my CV gaiters need replacing aswell, however they quoted £345 for this which I feel is a bit high.

The price for starters. And some garages recommend not leaving some stuff as long as the stated intervals. It depends on your own requirements, and mileage etc. on what suits your car, but a lot of people prefer regular interval rather than long life.

GOOD: Olympia Motors for anyone living in Coventry. Jas is a great guy. Decent prices and no BS.
AVS - £180 with OEM parts
Knows his Audi's inside out. No courtesy car available though.

GOOD: Hughes of Beaconsfield. AVS £240. Great service from John. Not a scratch on car when returned. Also went out of way to make sure everything else was in good order and did extra work at no cost e.g. one new back tyre (continental sport contact 3) for £40 (fitted and balanced). AVS including tyre of course was £280. Courtesy car available at extra cost but did not go for one.

AVOID: Audi main dealer on fletchemstead highway in Coventry. AVS was £299 and... they broke the engine cover/air filter housing by using brute force on a gromet. Naturally denied. Still does not sit correctly despite new grommet. Also missed checking spare tyre. Scratches on o/s wing when valetted again denied by main dealer. They also left the oil filter loose (not properly tightened) and I discovered this with the oil patches on my drive. Prior to this had a timing belt change and they did not even bother to check/test water pump. Dealer said: "well it would have been checked." I left a discrete detection liquid on it and it had not been touched by any finger prints or gloves. So how a water pump can be verified as fit for another few years I have no idea. Courtesy car had broken gear knob (pointed this out to dealer) and when returning car there was a huge fuss about said gear know - until after 15 minutes they returned with a copy of the paperwork and verified that it had been noted upon handing over the courtesy car to me for the day. Dealer attitude in general very poor, all staff flocking to punters near showroom cars but not so keen to help at service desk or parts desk. Uneccessary wait if you are wearing jeans and coming in for parts only.

I'm not sure sum-audi.

I wanted a full service as I bought the car 2nd hand & wanted to make sure the car was in sound condition. I believe they replaced all the filters, changed the spark plugs and carried out an oil change.

Minstadave, yeah it sounds a lot but I didn't know you could haggle on the price until I started posting on here.

@andrewguk: Spoke to Stoke Audi, yes they are charging 299 which is on audi website as well. The sales person said it includes general things like oil and filter change + spark plugs..

It seems high....

Hope somebody else can share their experience and help finding some good deals for second audi a3 service....

Service Light came on today, wondering if anybody could give me some advice. upto now the car has full audi service history and pretty much everything was changed by the previous owner in the last service ie, Timing belt, spark plugs, filters etc. This is only an interim service @ 70'000. Would you recommend another dealer service or an independent service? I dont really want to ruin the full history but is it worth the money I would save and the extra couple of quid i'll earn when it comes to sell the car?
Thanks

Cracking service froms Midlands VW today, had the following done:

Major service inc sparkplugs
New thermostat and housing
New diverter valve
New cam follower
Rear break pads
New CV boot

All for £600. A good 200-300 less than anywhere else I'd tried. Great service all round.

My audi a3 (58Reg 1.9 TDI ~45k mileage) is due to a longLife service in 500 miles and I am confused for the fixed price on the audi website. will it cost the same as a major service 299 pounds? BTW, I live in Bristol. Any one has any idea?

£120 for spark plugs? They did a major service and plugs on my 2.0T for £180.

Yeah but there are different plugs available, the originals cost around £12-14, I need 6 so £84 and £36 labour. I have the choice of the cheaper ones, but I'd rather use the originals.

Nope, only taken my car in to Audi once, they took all day to do a DSG oil change and didn't bother changing the filter, never went back.
