Hi peeps

Been a long time since I've posted anything on here
I'm in a pickle my car is as in the title a quattro 180 2.5 v6 tdi auto
and its giving me hell I have a now very violent vibration going on with it when you drive the car normally
and it's doing my head in nothing will break so I can see what it was or is an I can't seem to find what's wrong with the stupid thing
i wanna know because I think the gearbox is shot if anyone has done a auto to manual conversion on one
if so what am I gonna need to do it I know the obvious as in pedal box clutch hydraulics flywheel and clutch and centre console/gear selector but I'm worried the auto ecu will be different and prop may be the wrong size gearbox mounts and so on
if someone has all the bits I need and has done one already I'd like to know what to get

cheers in advance
Dan

Dan, you will need the matching prop, gearbox and rear diff as well as the slave cylinder + pipe and there's little wiring to be modded as well + some codding. The most straight forward would be having your box repaired, could be a faulty torque converter, valve chest or damaged electronic control unit. The ZF auto gearboxes are fairly reliable, you don't have by any chance a coolant leak ? The coolant get's mixed with the oil in the oil cooler built into the radiator and there is not enough line pressure hence the car slips and shakes. I would check the oil first, if clean then the problem is most likely the valve chest- you can get rebuilt ones for 400 quid or so. Throw an oil change and strainer and you should have it done for under a grand. If the torque converter they also available rebuilt but the box needs to come off in order to fit. I would also check the gearbox mounts, would be wise to replace them whilst there...
Come to see me for a scan and we'll see if i can do anything about it, i would start with an oil change- you'll be surprised how many "specialists" fix these with just a lube !

Chris your the man
I'm gonna have a look at the fluid at some point so if the valve chest then I can replace with the box in situ
The only other thing was the sluggish pull away its so ****** lazy even in sport it just lagsI'll have to come see you
and let you drive it to see what you think I've had the prop appart and had the bearing Ams bush changed but the centre uj
is a bit notchy don't know weather to get that done to and then at least that's sorted
ive been seriously looking at new cars and just chop this in but I'm now buying a house and money's just vanishing before my eyes
so I will get a couple of mounts and a valve chest but to start with check coolant and do a filter change on the box
right gotya thanks for your help mate you are the guru were not worthy haha

Hi Adam I’m new here and keep seeing you comment and you seam to know a lot about Audis this might be the wrong place and couldn’t find a way to message you. My problem is I have just bought a 2003 b6 2.5 v6 tdi it’s done 99300 miles and is mint full service history. But it has a very intermittent judder seams to be while crusing or up hill but it doesn’t do it all the time. And if I let off the gas it stops and if I Accelerate if stops. Any ideas?
