Hi All,

This is my first post here, be kind. I've searched through the other posts but a lot of them seem to go nowhere or have a slightly different problem.

I've got an S3 8V 2013 which came with no auto wipers/headlights. I've installed the sensor 8U0955559B and switch 8V0941531K and made changes in VCDS to code in auto lights but I feel like I've missed something as a message comes up on the instrument cluster saying "Vehicle lights: malfunction!" when I put the switch on the auto setting. It goes away when I turn the lights off or put it on dipped beam manually.

I've read online that there should be a setting to change in the "adaptation" section of VCDS for 09 - Central Electronics, but I can't find anything suitable, for example, I've seen somewhere that there should be a setting for telling the car that a switch with an auto position is installed called 'ENG141658-ENG141992-Außenlicht_uebergreifend-LDS_mit_AFL' but I can't see it anywhere in that list and VCDS has no search function. Maybe I need a security code for it? I dunno. Hopefully someone can help as I'm going out of my mind trying to solve it and nothing seems to help. I have some pictures showing current coding etc. Thanks!

I fixed my own problem...eventually. I'd stupidly enabled the option WITH light assist, thinking that meant auto headlights & I needed to select w/o light assist in VCDS. Hope this helps anyone else. As far as I know the rest of my coding was correct.

It’s always good when someone posts the solution to a problem rather than it ending up as yet another unanswered internet thread…… :smug:

I didn't want to be one of those guys. There's nothing more annoying!
