What is classed as FASH on an 8L S3? Should it have been serviced every year or as the service book says which is every 2 years or 19,000 miles (correct me if I'm wrong).
Totally agree. Anyone who's kept going back to get royally shafted by an Audi dealer on a car that's 6 years+ old under the delusion that they'll get the best care for their pride & joy obviously have more money than sense. VAG specialists tend to have far superior knowledge on older Audi's, take more pride in their work and charge a reasonable £40-£50 per hour rather than Audi's high class hooker/lawyer rates of £90+ per hour.
I also agree with the above, id value a car more if it had specialist independent service history rather than main dealer service history.
I also think that the long-life service intervals are a bit on the long side, look for a car that has been serviced regularly, not just when the computer feels its time for a service whenever it feels like it.
Andy and Ash, thanks for you opinions but you haven't really given me the answer to the question...should I assume you don't have FASH??
Following on from your comments (although I am still after the answer to the original question), why do all the motoring magazines recommend dealer history as a must?? Is it because that way you'd be right to assume the owner has been able to afford running the car and has not cut corners or spent the money they do have on silly mods...
Full Audi Service History is just that.....serviced by main dealers only. I guess its only that important if thats your criteria when you're looking to buy a car! Im not sure that FASH makes a lot of difference to the value
