Audi S6 C7.5 Revo stage 1

Keep us updated on how the comparison goes, is always great to see how tuning can make cars better :D
Thanks I will do. Its fun seeing where you can take your standard car without spending silly money and not pushing it too it's limits. Audi really leave a lot on the table with the 4.0t motor. Downpipes will happen at some point. A full exhaust should yield around 500-510ehp or 600bhp and 600flbs at the crank. I'll probably have this car for 2 years before changing unless I grow too attached to it. Would anyone like to see more YouTube content?

Well I'm not v good at diy my only tools is a Phillips and a baseball bat. That's actually not a joke either. So doing anything in the car myself probably isn't a bad idea. I've started the install it's easy to remove. Getting it back on not quite as easy. But I have got it in kind of but I'm going out now so will finish it before work in the morning. Took it for a quick spin and you get a tiny bit of blow off sound but not over the top. Throttle response feels improved too. Trying to get it in for a dyno tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Revo have made a nice product. The filter itself is huge.

Fantastic looking car.
I'll be looking to chop my a4 in next year and was thinking a6 bitdi but the s6 is very tempting.
What kind of economy are you getting if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks mate. Pretty good to say how I drive it. 20mpg Ave as I don't do many motorway miles but on the motorway like 30+ it's really good. Anyway forget the mpg you won't even care just tune it and have fun. Best car ive ever owned. It will stuff an m5 easy and that's a lot of fun

Haha its very tempting and I'm sure I'd love it. My problem is I'd get fed up with filling up every third or fourth day!
How many miles do you get to a tank full? I'm guessing the a6/s6 tank is larger than in my a4 which is tiny!

That's not bad at all. My a4 usually hits 350 a tank, put £52 in it this morn with 60 miles left on the range. Supposedly 34mpg.
You are twisting my arm

Just had the intake fitted and the only other mod is an x pipe and the car is making really good power. 445whp and 550flbs. Power all the way to redline. I'll post some dyno print offs soon. Very happy with it. Engine has 10,000 on it now so maybe it's loosened up. I went to the same dyno as before. Downpipes are definitely happening and stage 2. #gorevo

You also have a Revo stage 1 though, I thought?
Yeah I do that's stated in my earlier posts. What I meant is now the car has two extra mods since and the engine is fully broken in. Same dyno made a lot more power. Stock torque was 407flbs and now it's making 550flbs peak gain. Same with the HP the max gains are 100hp and even more through the midrange. Awesome tune. My advise to any one getting a tune on a new car is expect to see higher figures once your car has covered a few miles. I had mine tuned v early in its life.

I see.

As I understand it, the ceiling we hit fairly quickly is the torque limit on the DSG. Seems like the RS cars are capable of taking a lot more modding.

I've only had my S6 a couple of weeks - I'm really, really impressed - but I can't decide whether or not it needs any more power or noise. They do the quiet refined cruising thing so well it might be a shame to spoil that.... At the same time, what's the point of having a V8 if you can't hear it? Perhaps the ideal for me would be an exhaust that is switchable via the MMI, between quiet / no-drone (as per stock) and "sets off car alarms as you drive past"..!!

I do think I will want to sharpen the looks up a bit though. I'm really not a fan of chrome, especially on top of white....

There are people who have stage 3 pushing 650lbs and reporting no issues so im not sure that is a problem. The TT RS has a dsg as does the r8 v10.
It's probably a cost thing over anything else. Same gearbox in all cars means lower manufacturing costs is my guess.

Stage 2 should give around 600ft lbs so it's not at the ceiling yet.

Enjoy your car stock until you get bored or the itch to mod. Honestly I know I'm biased but the Revo stage 1 is amazing. I've not yet been embarrassed by another car so it's more than fast enough. Plus you can out the power down safely in virtually all weather.

Dechrome for sure chrome and white needs to go.

Speak to Revo and get it tuned when you're ready. It's mega

"Reporting no issues" really just means "not noticed any damage yet".

What about in five years' time? I suspect a lot of people mod their cars then get bored, sell and move on to something else. Whereas some people keep cars for a long time - I kept my previous favourite (Alpina B10 V8) for 12 years. If you're moving the car on after a year or two you probably won't suffer any issues, but if you keep it for a long time...?

Obviously a lot depends what you do with it once it is tuned - whether you look after it really well and occasionally indulge yourself, versus launching it, cold, on a daily basis whilst skimping on the servicing!!!

Anyway - like many others on here - I'm finding your experiences really interesting and useful, so thanks for that!

It's overused but pay to play. Audi leave a lot on the table without a doubt. S4 b8s have been running 450+ and similar torque 450 for about 5 years and so few issues. The earlier dsg was **** and broke whether you tuned it or not. There are guys in the US who have had tunes on the s6 and s7 for 3-4 years and running with no hiccups. Where are you based? Im always happy to take anyone for spin.

Agreed! But it's the DSG that worries me.

Is that on the same DSG as our cars? I think I read the limit was 440 - but you're already well past that?

East Hants. I think you're North Hants....?

Northumberland. Miles away lol. Someone found 440was not the limit that was at 9000rpm or something so we are way off. It's on audizine somewhere. Hopefully you'd see clutch problems first then you could always back down the torque. I personally would like to think tuning companies have tested this in detail. But I understand your concerns. Stay stock if you're happy. I couldn't go back now unless something went really wrong.

The other thing I'd be worried about with any change to exhaust etc is - losing some of the other noises. For example - there's a lovely whine at full chat which I love (from the turbos, I guess?) - and there's a risk that a louder exhaust might drown that out.

So yeah. I'll stay stock for a while (at least in terms of engine mods) whilst I'm getting to know the car better. I keep flipping between "what's the point of a V8 if you can't hear it" and "less is more - if you don't hear it most of the time, it just makes it more special when you DO wake it up"... !!!

You hear that more with the resonator delete I'll try get some videos done soon.

That would be good :)

So - best way to de-chrome? Best doesn't necessarily mean cheapest in my book.....

Watched a few plastidip videos but not sure how well that works in real life.

Ok I went to a local wrap specialist who just wrapped each piece for me. Looks OEM. Cost about £300. Audi wanted £1200 or something silly.

Thanks.

Anyone know what part number this grille would be?

or even this one:

Yeah I've been on their website, but I don't want an RS6 grille - I really like the black ones in my photos. Apparently Audi do sell a matt black version of the grille I currently have but it's over £700 so that's not gonna happen..!!

I guess ours aren't interchangeable with 2016 A6 grilles because of parking sensors etc - or are they? I don't have adaptive cruise control or all round cameras....

Actually I've found out that the part number for the matt black grille is 4G0853651BJCKA, and when I search on that, it seems to come up as an A6 grille, not an S6-specific one?

It's probably the same for as the s6. Xenonz do an s6 one too

the s6 grille pictured above looks the same as the one on my black edition, glossy paint around the frame and matt in the centre

What's the best way to remove the chrome strip along the bottom edge of the boot lid?

You wrapped the chrome strip?

Well I've taken mine off. Just need to work out how to get the small leftover bits of adhesive off now.

It's black now so when I hand it back it looks stock.

Or petrol, as it turns out. I didn't have much else at home to try - but petrol went through it like a hot knife through butter.

Step 1 complete!

Although now the number plate looks a little too high. Wonder if I can lower it somehow.
