Audi s5 paint correction

So my friend picked up an s5 recently ... was prepped (loosely speaking) by the porsche specialist garage ... awful prep and the paint was flat, dull and full of random defects such as

So he wanted me to correct the paint and the next 10hours were invested in the s5. Lovely car

Prep
Iron x - rinse
Snow foam - rinse
Hand wash (washing up liquid)
Rinse
Claybar - rinse
Handwash using snowfoam
Rinse
Dry

Da polisher with
1st stage
Menzerna pf2400 and medium waffle pad
2nd stage
Menzerna pf3800 with medium hex pad
Sealed
Autobrite project 32
Waxed
Harly wax
Tyres/ trim
Autobrite tyre/trim gel
Windows/ wheels
Fast liquid wax ... wheels are booked in for refurb.

It's shocking how they think that's the car prepared for delivery.
Great work from yourself to get it back to how it should look. Like the use of Fairy Liquid to get the 'protection', I use that term very loosely, off before clay barring it.

Thankyou mate ... always do, its amazing that before hand there will usually be some level of beading after washing up liquid .... all gone. I then use autobrite lux suds on my maintenance washes inbetween,I was talking to my mate earlier and he remembered that the wing above which is half white was being 'machine polished' when he arrived and thts the white half they were doing, he took on a test drive and the fella then just carried on after the drive, not even a rinse down. Im convinced the defects were put in largely at prep stage by the garage. Thank you for your kind comments

That's frightening. Just shows the amount they don't really care! And that same guy maybe doing prep/PDIs on new cars.

Great job! Agreed...quite scary how much damage was caused by a prep...!

Not that it matters, since you you clayed and polished, but I thought it was generally agreed that fairy liquid does not strip waxes?

This was the article that I read. The bit on the end explains how it can give the impression that a LSP is stripped, but in fact it is not. Something to do with surfacants, but I am not a chemist so its all over my head!

Thnku I also use neat snow foam on the 2nd stage wash too. Tbh the clay and the iron x do the hard work.
Thankyou for your comments and this car is the exact reason I would never let any garage prepare my car, dont get me wrong im sure they are not all this bad but I am also sure some are worse, but u remember the bad ones

Well its hard work finding ones that do a good job. I asked my dealer not to prep my new S5, but they still did...Nothing like your pictures, but enough swirls to make me want to correct it!
