As above, my fan is always on but my temperature is fine so I'm a little confused..

Any ideas?

How long is it running for? They can run for a little while longer after a 'spirited' drive!

Had a similar problem on the GFs Mini and it was a faulty thermostat. That would be my first guess.

Any signs of leaks in the engine bay? Coolant level OK?

It seems to come on round about the time the engine is at proper temperature and then doesn't go off. If i turn the car off and then on it stays on.

No signs of leaks, coolant level all okay.

When I get out of the car though, you can feel a general heat coming from it but this may just be normal.

Yea I've read other threads in the A5OC that suggest this is normal behaviour. If it's only running for a few minutes after you've parked up, then that seems about right.

Of course if it's running for 20+mins and even running your battery flat, you may have an issue!

I thought it might be but its every single time I use the car and it goes off after only a few minutes of turning the car off.

Is your Air-Con turned on as this will often cause the fan to run to draw air through the Air-Con heat exchanger.

Air con on or off it doesn't matter. Its around the time the engine is upto temp (which it stays at). I am very confident this is not normal behavior.

Anyone have any ideas where I should look to or what I should do to diagnose the issue? I have a couple vagcom cables but I only have a mac so I cant really be assed to install windows on it to get this working.

Here is the output from vagcom

I'm not an expert at interpreting VCDS output but it seems to bear out my initial reaction which is faulty thermostat. Most likely the thermostat has failed and therefore the fan comes on as a failsafe.

Do you find it take longer than you'd expect to come up to temperature?
