Audi S3 8V Wheels Thread

Sorry Motley not sure what you mean, with the angle you want a pic, but happy to take the pic if I can understand. the poke will be less if lowered thought that's for sure as the camber reduces. the rears don't poke and actually just sit inside the arch as there is more room but fair point as the picture suggests poke but I think this is because there is so much more tyre on display compares to the original wheels. - Could even get 5-10mm spaces if required on the rear but judging by the design of the RS3 this would result in more understeer so Im leaving as is.

If to trust the pictures, the rear tyres poke a little more than the front ones? It would be interesting to see the front look taken from a very sharp angle that shows the front bumper/wing part and the wheel. I'm still on a 8P SB and my summer setup is 8x18 ET42. It looks flush from above and from the back, but when I look from the front at a certain angle, I see the tyre treads and it makes it look like it pokes. It wasn't like this when my 8P was 7 mm lower on different springs.

I thought of pictures like in this post: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/new-alloys-advice-please.376615/#post-3286883 I realise that it takes time and effort to take them this way though, but it's what I'm going to do when I'll fit new wheels.

On change of camber when a car is lowered, wouldn't 4-wheel alignment fix it back to normal?

Ill get the photos tomorrow. I have exactly the same size and ET as Lehn as I used his guidance when choosing mine but I went for a different wheel style. however there will be slight differences in actual wheel dimensions from one supplier to another regardless as to what is quoted, Lehns seem to poke slightly more but then again he has bladed spokes and so on..... If still deciding on ET then absolutely ET45 is the max with 8.5J on standard suspension for non saloon cars on the fronts. unless you particularly want poke.

I'll try to avoid any poke, though the rims I'm considering to buy are ET42. Perhaps they won't fit and I'll have to choose another option/design. I also consider sourcing oem RS3 8V rotors if I find them used in good condition for a reasonable price.

P.S. Is it possible to shave the mounting wheel hub by a few mm to adjust the ET?

Not my call on machining the wheels but in principle yes its possible and many companies offer it based on the fact that most wheel castings are based on small offset and machined to a certain size so chances are that there could be enough meat left to take off - the amount of "meat" needed though I could not tell you... id be surprised if 3mm couldn't be removed though...…..
I originaly went for RS3's but they look too tame and getting an immaculate set is in the region of 1200 for the staggered. I wanted a little more aggressive look and dish so went for mk1 reps, also if the Mrs curbs one I wont cry as I can get another one cheap.

Actually 5 spoke is my favorite design. I kind of like minimalism and try to avoid too many details. Often, I look at and consider more spokes, such design as Rohana RC7 or RF1 for instance. But then I remember that our cars, especially Sportbacks, don't accept deep dish and those wheels don't look as great in my eyes when they aren't concave enough. So I choose the rotors or something similar again.

BTW, speaking of rotors of the last generation, I just found out that the Q2 rotors (81A601025M) have the size of 8Jx19 ET45. Very close to what I need.

That cold be a good option. Would certainly be more oem. I’ll get more pics up tomorrow but with 8j I’d need spacers to fill the arch.

Hopefully these help. Last 2 are of the rears.

Hopefully these help. Last 2 are of the rears.
Thank you! These pictures help. I see now what you mean saying that p-zeros have pretty wide rim protection :) It adds at least 5 mm more to the total wheel width, so it wouldn't look wrong, and rather more appealing to my personal taste, if the rim was 8.5x19 ET48-50 or if it was 8x19 ET45 at the front. I like the look of the rears.

Yeah if you went safer with 3-5 mm more offset or 8j with 225 tires it would be more sensible and possibly space the rears by 5mm sounds like it’s what your after. There is the 5 mm clearance between front leg and tire if you went 8.5j et 48 or so if needed. And yeah the rim protection on the p-zeros looks sweet in the flesh I think it makes the tires appear more stretched than they are compared to a square tire. Plus they are great tyres too with so much progressive grip and feedback.

What do you think of the new (2020) RS6 wheels? This is how they would look on a 2019 8V Sportback if they were available in 19" size (render). I like the look.

You'd definitely need some big brakes to wear those shoes! Imagine how they'd look with little two pot callipers.

The big brakes would be a dream, unaffordable today. But speaking of the look, the S3 alloys I have now are even more open than these ones and small rear rotors look ridiculous through them.

Although I agree the big brakes would look ACE int hese wheels I don't think they would look silly, Well no worse than my 19s I have now on the S3 (they are only 1 " bigger than OE)

Are you talking about my car, the one with the RS6 alloys? It's fake. I covered my S3 rims with the RS6 ones that I copied from the Internet, hence the big RS6 brakes on a picture ;) Originally, I have small A3 brakes, not even worth painting them red.

Hartmann HRS6-091-MA:M replica RS6 wheel 19 x 8.5 ET47 uses Audi OEM wheel bolts and centre caps with 235/35/19 tyres. Now changed to 245/35/19 Conti DWS-06 ultra high performance all season tyres, which are fantastic tyres but only available in North America...235 looked stretched which I do not like and no rim protection.

I like them, looking to change my rotors so a worthy contender,
I chatted with a supplier of my last two sets of alloys and he said they aren't going to produce a 19 inch size of the new RS6 design rims as on my picture above, unfortunately. However, he said that a new RS7 design rims will be available in 19 inch size soon. I'll try to merge a picture of them with a picture of my car and post it here.

Well, this is how it could look with the new RS7 wheels. Which design is better, the RS6 or the RS7?

Wrong :) I have a replica of these rims, 19x8 ET45. Scroll a few posts up (#62) to see it on my car.

I said "wrong" to the part where you suggested that a replica of these wheels didn't exist:

I "photoshopped" a few pictures with the RS6 and the RS7 alloys, but the picture with the S3 alloys is real. You can see more pictures of my car with the S3 replica wheels on my Instagram (see my signature.)

They are arrived! The new RS6 reps in a size of 19x8.5 ET45. I'm going to ceramic coat them with the CarPro CQuartz DLUX tonight. I didn't decide whether I re-use rubber from my current wheels (Asy5) or buy a set of new tyres yet.
