Hi guys...

Assistance required yet again... :)

I'm looking for an 8p black optics grill, prices and wheres the place place to buy 1? Theres currently 1 on ebay for £999 but surely this is not the case at this ridiculous price?

I'm not really looking to paint my grill, cos it would be a pretty naff mod and stonechips etc down the line could expose the chrome...

I think the black optics grill on this car would set it right off? opinions?

Thanks in advance guys... Jack

Try stokeaudi-parts.co.uk only place that had the black grill I wanted to fit my car. It was £230 but I didnt want an cheap quality part.

Depends if you want OEM or not. If you do then Audi is the place to get it from. If not, you could always get one from FK Tuning which'll be much cheaper.

These are like hens teeth for the 57 plate shape. Took me ages and ages to find mine. Luckily for you, i now have it sat in the garage.........

any ideas why this gill costs so much?

Audi S3 8P Grill BLACK S-Line A3 Grille 8P0 853 651 Q ORIGINAL GENUINE NEW | eBay

I'd prefer oem but not if they are all ths price..... I've heard the fk tuning grill is an absolute bassa to fit.. trimming the grill and also the front bumper.....

What type of grill you got Jamess4cab... and if your willing to part with it then pm me....

Gonna go over to an audi specialists today in Glasgow and also get their opinion on the matter

That grille is for the later facelift model - mid 2008 onwards.

It doesnt cost that much... I bought it from the same dude. Submit an offer to him... I paid £240

I'm not sure he has any in stock, that's why he's put the price up so high.

I was thinking that... but it does say more than 10 available... maybe just send him a wee message and see what the score is..

That audi specialists I went to today was useless... needless to say I wont be back there again! :)

You are paying mostly for the slat part of the grill - as far as I remember the black outline is only £50-60

I am on the look out as well for my 2007 S3 so the race is on :)

The race is on indeed Boydie... Let me know how you get on with it though, if you find a place that does them....

I've trauled the tinterweb and it does look like it'll be fun trying to find 1.....

As I said before guys, the grille you've linked above will only fit a mid 2008 onwards A3/S3.

Anno cheers mate... i'd noticed that after I put the link up.....

These grills are still impossible to find anywhere!??? Where are you Black optics grilles????? ;) ha

Or sat in my garage gaining in value due to them being like hens teeth.............

Yeah, a guy in Germany wanted it so it went back to it's homeland :)

I had it for ages mate and no one showed any interest on here!

I know, was wrong place/wrong time/wrong mindset for me. Then I got a Shark bite and now I want to go to town!

Or it could be on my car James... :)

Depends if its oem or not though... I might just bite the bullet and go to Audi and get 1 done...

Has anyone heard of anyone dipping an oem 'standard grill' in matt black hydrographics.. then maybe painting the outer edge gloss black? ..... Could be a route to go down, but maybe a bit long winded?

So what do we think guys????

Black optics or standard? Both OEM

Black optic and standard grill

Thats my car in the pics above mate.... I've got both the black optics grill and standard 1....

Putting the black optics on my car tomorrow, but not really sure how its gonna look on a sprint blue car.... Seen some pics on the web and it looks not bad.. Doesnt pop like the black or the white though, but the standard grill is too much bling for my liking.. Only time will tell though... I'm trying to source a set of 19" rotarys aswell for it so I think it'll pop a bit more when they're on...

i like black optics on all colours. Like you say the standard grill is so bling, I think it makes the S3 look tacky where the black gives almost more class but increases aggressive looks which is surely what a S3 should be about

Yeah that what I was thinking, give it that more slightly aggresive look.... Don't know how well it will sit with the wheels...?

Should look great with the 19" rotarys though.. Maybe have to go down the road of lowering it slightly aswell to get it sitting perfect, but dont wanna muck up the ride of the car

You missed my rotors I was selling but still got some anthracite bimotos for sale........

i seen them James in the classifieds... They're nice but i've got my heart set on a set of 19" rotars I think... Depending on how hard they are to source at a decent price though...

Should have gave me a shout bout your optics grill last week n I would have took it.... Ended up buying a slightly accident damaged standard grill, fixed that and plastidipped it.... Looks the part! Fitted it today

All done :)

Standard grillHalf way through 1Optics done

Totally transforms the look of the car for the better I think... and also fixed my headlight washers when I was there... :)

Still for sale guys - if anyone is interested, drop me a pm. Its off the car and ready to go. Nothing like the real thing rather than a dipped std one............

In saying that though, took me 2 days to dip that grill.... meticulous attention to detail is my curse!

Sit them side by side, hard to tell a difference, I wouldnt put anything naff on the car, if it didnt look near perfect... Someone will snap your grill up straight away though i'd imagine...

I'm pulling your leg dude. I dipped mine when i got bored of waiting for a genuine one to come up. Took me ****** ages and I now cant be ***** to swap the genuine one on.

Maybe but give it a few months and then do the same. Stone chips galore.

Anno its a rubber coating though, so only time will tell.... heard its really good for stone chips etc...
