Hi Guys,

I dont know if anyone can help but I have a 2017 RS3 Stage 2 done by MRC - its done 26,000 miles.

However I am having some serious issues with consumption of oil! The car recently done a complete oil change - within 3,000 miles the oil warning light came on! I have spoke to MRC and they have suggested it could be the oil breather - however I have checked this and there seems to be no issues. When the car is running and stationary I can smell the burning of oil pretty bad - but there is NO leaks on the drive or engine bay etc.

Audi are quoting circa £500+ just to look into this and do a deep dive analysis

Before I pay this does anyone know what else it could be or a solution?

And what was the oil consumption like pre-remap ? Are you saying the remap is responsible ?

Unfortunately I wouldnt know as I only bought the car back in October 2020 - the car was on roughly 22,000 miles then.

and I honestly dont know if the remap is responsible for such consumption as I have only been driving the car to and from work - but clearly there is some issue just not sure what that is and MRC and fully booked until end of september

If you can smell oil when stationary imo it is either blowing out the exhaust or leaking onto something hot...........probably the latter meaning you have a leak somewhere presumably under pressure if you can't see any drips.

Daza is known for oil consumption I’m afraid.

Excuse my naivety, only had it 6 weeks but mines a 2019 DAZA, what oil do these take in standard form (save me looking in the manual)
Be good to get a reserve bottle In The shed if they burn oil........

I know from a friend working at Audi that there is a problem with DAZA and the top engine cover (rocker cover)
This cover is seals with sealant and is known for fail from factory
Take a look in the spark plug holes by popping up the coils and see if oil is present there... This also maks the smell...

And not a straightforward fix either as the cam cover has the camshafts bolted to it so you have to strip half the engine to remove it.

This is all good to know but I’d expect if you are losing it from a gasket/seal you would have sins in the engine bay because it has to go somewhere. My Land Rover head gasket was leaking before, resulting in oil was everywhere and the only reason I knew.
If you are losing so much oil and it was burning off in combustion I’d expect to see it in the exhaust fumes so a difficult one. Unless someone know something I don’t I can’t see how a tune could make you use oil unless you had been running it for a long time whilst massively over fuelling causing bore wash and piston ring/bore wear.
I didn’t know Daza Antibes burn oil and have had a 2018 since new. Although I get free oil changes and do no more than 1500 miles in between I have never topped up yet.
I agree go to a non Dealer Audi specialist garage. Main dealer garages work on mainly newish cars so often don’t have the experience to diagnose issues than usually appear on older cars. I had a BMW 635CSI with a gearbox fault the BMW spent 2 days on before saying the box needed replacing. An independent had an idea on just from talking on the phone and was finally fixed for £350 having been a tiny oil leak running through the wiring to the gb ecu.
Best of luck

Don’t pay Audi the £500 for a sniff, it will be a waste of money. Speak to a MRC or a reputable German tuner nearby.

Does it start up lumpy or not turn over straight away?

I’m keen to see how this goes as I’m considering MRC stage 2 so I’ve been watching from every angle to positives and negatives.
