Hi and Merry Christmas to you all.
My Q5 started jolting and then complete loss of power when travelling yesterday.
The noise from the engine was quite loud. The gearbox was still changing down as the vehicle was moving and losing speed. No warning lights at all.
I thought cambelt initially, but it wasn't that as it was still on tight.
I attempted to start the car again on the request of the RAC guy and it cranks but doesn't fire up and the banging noise occurs.
I can get a recon engine sup' and fitted, but before I do that I would appreciate any advice on what this could be. I don't want to just replace the whole lump if I don't have to
