Hello, I took my car into an Audi garage for a brake fluid change this morning and everything with my car was fine. A few hours later they sent me a video saying that one of my headlight bulbs was faulty. Then when I got in my car when I picked it up. I started driving and it come up with the error that the right light don’t work (just the bulb). Do yous think it’s abit shady from the Audi garage or am I over thinking it? As everything with the car was fine before I gave it to them. Thanks

Does sound a bit suspect as the warning would have come up before you took it in had it been broken before.

Maybe ask why the warning didn’t show beforehand but does after they’ve had it and see what their response is, highly coincidental...like a bulb has been changed for a dodgy one.

If they are going to charge you, Audi are unlikely to be the cheapest place to get a bulb change, if it’s not something you can do yourself, give the business to Halfords or something.

Quoted me £250 for new bulb, luckily that’s fitted!

I assume it is a Xenon? How old is your car?

I would be seeking advice on here on how to go about replacing it. I certainly would not pay a main dealer to change a bulb.

Yeah they’re xenon lights and the cars 7 years old now I believe

They’re jokers mate & the brakes felt the same tbh. I didn’t really notice a difference

When you take your car for any work at audi, is it acceptable to ask to have it videod? Seen many videos of the techs working on various Audi’s, might be the way forward to avoid this dodgy sh!t

B4 I had my brakes done car would stop instantly. Now my brakes are spongy but they had 2 attempts to get it right. So when I change my front discs and pad it wont be going back to them waste of £60

They ask you if you want a health check where they go round the car and send you a video of the condition of certain things. But apart from that, I don’t think they actually send videos of them “working” lol

I’ve had a health check from audi before and never got a video

Curious as to why you chose to take your 7 year old car into an Audi dealer purely for a brake fluid change?
Were they maybe offering a special price....because otherwise you are asking to be bent over and shafted on price.
When did your car last have a brake fluid change?

For peace of mind, they didn’t offer me a special deal or anything

63 plate S3 with xenon!

The bulb it’s self from Audi £186 each!

Got set of eBay for £30, changed both, remove wheel and inner arch’s. Bit tight but can be done, otherwise you’ll have to remove the bumper and light it’s self!

That’s just daylight robbery. Do you know specifically what bulb it is?

Peace of mind! I don't understand why you'd get that from a main dealer, an Audi/VW specialist would have the same/probably more knowledge about your car. I used a specialist on both the S3 and A5, I'd trust him to do anything on the car, I wouldn't trust the main dealer to wash it :p

Just had one of mine go on a S3 Saloon 5.5 years old. Got a well known indy to do both for 258. Tried taking the arch off method but just couldn't get in to it properly and didn't want to do any damage.

Oh.. and its a bumper off to do it properly. Crazy design

Yeah I seen a video on YouTube. But I don’t trust myself to do it

Have you guys ever had yours done at Halfords?

No no no

Even worse than taking car to Audi!
Don’t even think they’d attempt to change an S3 bulb!

lol the son of a mate used to work for Halfords, his training for a lot of the stuff was "Read this".
