    Hi,
Very excited as I am about to receive my new A5 next week. Wondering whether or not to go for an Audi complete service plan. For my mileage and for service/maintenance I am going to pay over £40 a month. Is it worth it? Got it on another vehicle but for under a year so not really able to judge whether or not is good value for money.

Since Audi do fixed price servicing then you ought to be able to calculate if its worth it. It depends on engine size and your mileage. £40 per month is more than a major service for a 2 litre engined car every year, so if you don't do enough miles to need a major service every year...

I am unable to do the costing as car ownership is something new to us and we don’t have any experience with servicing cost and other additional expenses. £44 is for 16k miles per annum and service/maintenance only for 4 years.

Forgot to add, it is a 2.0 litre engine diesel.
If I just consider services then it is not worth it as I can only get a service every 19000 miles as per the agreement. However it includes other things that may go wrong (no idea how likely) like suspension repair, clutch repair......

New Audis generally don't need much servicing. However 16k miles per year is above average I believe? I don't know the recommended schedule but I suspect that 64k miles over 4 years will need 2 interim and 1 major service, 1 gearbox service, 1 brake service and an MOT. That would be about £1020 with current fixed price servicing. At £40 per month you would have paid £1920, so there's £900 for other things. I'm guessing that the cam belt (if it has one - maybe others can advise if this engine has belt or chain) won't be due before 64k/4 years. However there is a good chance that you will at least need new brake pads, perhaps even twice at the front, so that could be £515, although likely it would need new front discs in that time so make that £725. To be sure maybe search the forum/ask to find out how long the brakes tend to last on these cars.

So in conclusion it sounds like standard insurance: Audi have priced it such that unless the car has problems, they are likely to make a small profit out of selling you this plan. If you prefer to have peace of mind for the next 4 years then I'd say go for it. If nothing more than I describe needs doing then you will have lost out a couple of hundred, but that's not much for peace of mind. Whereas of course if more needs doing then you win.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. It is £44 so around £2100 just for service/maintenance. I have the impression that diesel vehicles are more expenssive to maintain and for peace of mind I might go for it. What bothers me is that I cannot decide when to do the servicing under the plan. it can only be done every 19k rather than yearly.

FYI I just took out a 4 service (48 month) service and maintenance plan on a 2018 SQ5 (3.0 V6 petrol) 7k miles per year, fixed annual servicing schedule for £23.25/month. This works out to £279/year which I'm happy with.

I believe the price quoted before is only valid for new vehicles prior collection.

My quote was for a new vehicle, but not prior to delivery. I got this deal within the first month of owning the car, I’m pretty certain that you can get an Audi Complete quote at any point.
