After searching the Internet with no luck I'm turning to you experienced people. There's loads of threads and information on the B7 platform but nothing on the B8 about swapping my rear ARB for that off a RS4. So these are the apparent specs for the B7: SE bar = 16mm S Line bar = 18mm S4 bar = 20mm RS4 bar = 22mm Is the B8 similar in terms of size? The reported handling gains from changing this are apparently massive, greatly reducing understeer and body roll. From the dealer the ARB is only £80 for the RS4, allot less than any aftermarket part. Thanks in advance, brad.
I'd the same setup on my B6 before. I then asked the question again when I replaced it with the B8, but got little response. What I did find out is there is a lot less body roll with the B8 compared to the B6/7 so isn't a necessary mod. Any one that changed the ARB seems to do front and back from an aftermarket crowd. However I'm open to other people's opinion! I have thought about doing it. And if I knew there was a considerable difference would do it in the morning.
I have the rs4 rarb on my b6 also and it made a fair bit of difference. I would also be interested in upgrade my b8
21.7mm rear on the S4/Sline without sports diff,19.6mm on SE suspension I think 16mm rear if fitted with sports diff iirc
The B8 RS4 uses an active suspension system where a lot of the roll is dialled out by stiffening the shocks so only has a 16mm rear ARB. The S4 / S line part is the biggest OE bar you can get. http://www.partsbase.org/audi/audi-...100-suspension-anti-roll-bar-shock-absorbers/ I have fitted the uprated H & R bars on my car and they work well along with the Bilstein B12 suspension. Cheapest from German Ebay about £270 for front and rear bars . The front is adjustable. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H-R-Stabi...623540?hash=item2c6cc83e74:g:Lb0AAOSwWnFV8nMv
Perfect! This is exactly the information I was looking for... Seemed to struggle finding it anywhere else. Not sure which category for ARB mine would come under being the Allroad, I'd imagine the SE suspension? Either way mine's on air suspension so just need to dial out that little bit of body roll. FYI. The air with performance struts has way less body roll and handles awsome in comparison to standard suspension. I know your thinking it wallows around
Mine has drive select with active suspension and sports diff, so presume will be the 16mm? May be best to leave mine well alone as it must be smaller for a reason and I don't want to mess things up!
Where abouts are you? I could be interested in it. I presume you have swapped it out for an uprated one?
Well that answers the question. I don't think anyone will be doing the "upgrade" to the 16MM RS4 RARB
So as little Christmas present to myself I ordered the H&R ARB's from Germany as linked above. The weight difference between the old and new was astonishing. Probably not as astonishing as the handling! The cars is such an enjoyment to drive now!
Bit of an old thread but are any of you still about? I've just got myself a B8 Avant 2.0 T (SE trim). Having come from an Octavia VRS I'm loving the ride comfort and the ride height - I live down a very bumpy lane! But, the body roll I'm not so keen on and want to try and dial that out while keeping the ride height and supple ride which is what's led me to this thread. I reckon thicker Anti Roll bars are the way to go. If I can make it a bit more "pointy" that would be good too - Are these prone to under-steer? So everything I'm reading says I've got 19.6mm on the rear (not sure about the front). An OE rear bar from an S4 without a sports diff would be an improvement to 21.7 (again, not sure about the front). Eibach kit is 23mm rear and 28mm front. H&R kit is 24mm rear and 30mm front. The other thing I'm reading is if you want to dial out under-steer then upgrade the rear ARB and if you want to dial out over-steer then upgrade the front ARB so I'm think of just doing the rear. XPOWERUK, how did you find yours just doing the back end?? Another quick question - when looking for OE parts, is the part for the Saloon and the Avant the same??
