Hello Guys,
I'm Looking for some help/advice, I've recently bought a 2015 Audi A5 3.0ltr Tdi Sline Black Edition, I absolutely love it, but it has developed an annoying & worrying problem, It keeps losing the coolant, (it runs at 90°, it doesn't overheat or anything) I have had it in 4 different garages, who have done various diagnoses on it, I've had a compression check, a sniff test on the water system, a water system pressure test, it's been on several ramps with different mechanics under it, with no signs of coolant leaks, nothing getting onto the oil, no signs of water escaping from anywhere. the car drives as it should, no loss of power, gearbox cycles up & down through the gears as it should, no warning lights, The other thing I might not have to top coolant up for a couple of days, but then I could have to top up every other day.
Then the coolant could also be right up under the lid, When I've driven to work (roughly 25miles) & park up there's steam coming out from under the bonnet somewhere, if I lift the bonnet the steam can't be seen. it's driving me nuts!
The car was serviced just before I purchased it (engine, gearbox & rear diff)
The garage I bought it from had it back & reckons there was a crack in the expansion tank, which they fitted a new tank & a new cap, but that didn't solve the problem, they have now said they're not interested anymore.

Has anyone had the same problem?
Or can someone point me in the direction of what to look for please

I've tried Garrett 69, he's told me he's not interested. I part ex'd a 2017 Audi A4 2.0ltr tdi sport, & he reckons he had to replace the egr cooler on it and it cost him £3000.
so he said he's not interested in my SMALL problem. I can't even pop it into him as he is 2hrs away from my home.

£3K to replace the EGR cooler!!! I have just recently been quoted to change mine for just under £400 all in! (Independent Audi specialist garage)

Now mine is a 2.0Tdi but can't imagine the 3.0Tdi would be that much more to replace.

Sounds like first thing to do is locate where the steam is coming from. If its leaking onto something hot from above or if its boiling and venting.

Radiator ok ?

EGR cooler on the 3.0TDI engines is an absolute pig. It's in the V, but not in a friendly way. If one garage refuses to take your money, a leak test with another is your way to go. Ask them to run it around at operating temperature and *then* look.
