Hi i was driving down the motorway and felt a bit of a bang got home and realised my rear wheel was higher than my wheel arch so before i get charged the earth am looking for information which could help any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you

Sounds very much like the spring has broke

Do not drive it as the broken part can move and rip in to the sidewall of the tyre

Yeah sounds like suspension problem.
