Sounds like you’ve got a long road ahead man.. from what I sussed out, B&O upgrade is a more serious possibility if your car is PCP/paid off etc.

I’ve had a buzzing coming from centre speakers (dash area) at low frequency on my S4 Avant. Above a volume threshold (not that loud), gets very buzzy especially with anything with a bit of bass or low frequency voice ,
Took car in for service and showed this issue to the tech. Appears it’s a know issue . They replaced dashboard top grill (close to windscreen) with one that has a felt covering on underside . Buzz appears to gone ! Not sure if his will help you ... hope it does.

Glad you got a result with it mate. My dash speaker never rattled until it came out from the fiest repairs.. just sounds incredibly sh*te now.

I’ve just been given the headsup for a 640d gran coupe with HK so all I need is Audi to help me out of the contract..

Strange outcome for you. I have the sub rattle and they got on to it right away. Coated the surround in felt or something. Pretty much resolved it.
Try another dealer

I dont think I will now to be honest. I reallt havent got the time for it all

I've just had my car back with the final attempt at this. It went in 3 times while they added more sound damping material to the parcel shelf and pillars. This last time, the master tech specially purchased some extra thick material from an audio specialist, completely removed the parcel shelf and put it everywhere. It became a labour of love for him, but even after all of this it still rattles if I turn the subwoofer up. Under reasonably loud bassy music it's now acceptable, but if I really try hard I can still make it rattle. Conclusion: It's a design fault.

Time to ring Audi UK and register your complaint mate. Nothing else that can be done unfortunately.

I've just booked mine in to get the speaker issue looked at. I'm getting it on certain songs whilst listening to planet rock at quite low volumes, less than 20% volume. Luckily i'm not far from the a dealer so I can get a lift to work so its not much of a faff.

They'll likely keep it for the day, maybe longer if anything needs replacing. If it's going to be more that a day make sure you request a courtesy car. Good luck

They did say they need it for the day. Its Audi that are giving me a lift to work and picking me up when its done so i'm assuming if they need it for longer they'll give it me back and book me in for another appointment. Time will tell!

Just an update on my situation. Audi Complaints department have said nothing more than £320.00 in compensation will be done. Currently weighing up my options as I might just dish that in towards the voluntary termination costs and terminate the contract. However, I will be contacting Financial Ombudsman for more advice as they have been extremely slow and shabby with the way it's been dealt. No answer from my case handler for nearly 2 weeks as she was off and no one else could deal with the issue. Meh, atleast I know there won't be an Audi parked on my driveway for a very long time.

Since Allroad is mentioned. Allroad are only built in ingolstad. where is your a4 built ? ive pretty much owned audi cars since my audi 90 2.3e 20v quattro in 1997. all of them built in ingolstad or germany. im OCD when it comes to rattle/noises.

a proper built & served audi does not make noise/rattle in a4 «class» or higher (meaning audi design not vag design polished by audi).

Audi Sound System in my B9 2018 is not a high quality sound system but it plays my music without any rattle and with enough entusiasm to serve its needs ranging from electronica , heavy rock to piano solo artists in high quality recordings&formats. i can make it rattle if i move bass tone control past 3 oclock on an average recording.

Pretty sure it was Inglostadt mate.. wouldn't have thought it would be elsewhere..

A proper built & served Audi does not make noise/rattle? The new A7 has the same issue as this as well.. A brand new Audi A4 had the same issue. Must not be many well built & served Audis around lol

Mine is booked-in in a couple of weeks to get the centre speaker grill replaced, rear sub sorted and fix the creaking sunroof.

With these and the rattle that I had from the drivers door this Audi has been the worst rattle-box that I’ve owned of any car in the last ten years.

They’re just not as bullet proof as they used to be.

Yeah I’ve read that the fix is lubricant. I’ll let the dealer sort it.

depends on what needs to be done, if the sub needs replacing)
which was the case with mine) then they'll have to order a new one in which means they'll keep it overnight. shouldn't take more than 2 days but I'd ask for a courtesy car either way.

I have asked for a courtesy car (£15); with your one was the sub rattling too and after the new sub the rattling has stopped?

Please don't pay for courtesy car! the car should be given to you for free as Audi are the ones causing you inconvenience. They tried to do the exact same with me but I kicked up a fuss and they dropped the charge immediately.

Yes I had a very bad sub rattle which has now been sorted after a replacement of the Subwoofer and parcel shelf which took 48 hours.

Surely though that's because there is no sub in the parcel shelf with the Avant's and Allroad. They have it mounted in the spare wheel well. It is probably a different sub as well within it's own enclosure..

A4 are built in germany, china, indonesia, india and ukraine.. im pretty sure this is not factory related but owner related though from reading your posts :puke2:

Ours are assembled in Germany but the parts are manufacturer from anywhere. But you are correct in that it is probably owner related...

My S4 has the B&O system and it’s booked in for week after next to be looked at. Passenger-side front door speaker vibrates way too much, and the sub in the parcel shelf is getting horrendous now.

Let us know how you get on - I have similar issues but also have a vibration from the section that houses the reading lights in the roof with certain songs.

Just gave mine in for the parcel shelf/sub rattle

I have the B&O system and I can say having had 3 previous gen A5's which all had B&O this is far and away pathetic. I find myself forever changing the settings because nothing ever really sounds right. They've cranked up the power, well the output in watts anyway and I think the system just can't cope. The central speaker on the dash has horrible vibrations during most songs (a simple rubber surround seal would have helped). There's always a lack of depth regardless of the type of music being played. To top it off a couple of weeks ago it now sounds like the rear left speaker has blown in some way as it's got an awful vibration sound with bass. Basically the whole B&O system is a piece of junk in this car. I've raised this with Audi and B&O neither of which seem too interested in it. Never had any complaints with the system in the previous A5's. They weren't perfect but they were certainly suitable and no vibrations etc. Car goes in for MOT in a couple of weeks and I already have a list of issues they need to look at. Have to say this A4 may be my last Audi as it arrived with a list of issues that could shame War & Peace for length! So much so Audi actually gave me compensation. Supposed to have it another year but may have end up in a legal battle to return it if they can't resolve the issues. Very disappointed.

Gave my car in yesterday for the sub rattle in the parcel shelf, they told me its the rear top brake light causing the rattling as screws and bolts are loose (4 week old A4). Due to be fitted today, i dont see how this would cause rattling with the sub.. They said they have padded the sub and speakers too,, pick up sometime today if all goes well and i will check the car with technician before i pick up to make sure rattles have gone.

You're lucky you got to 4 weeks old, I had mine less than a week and it went back. It then took nearly 4 months to resolve the majority of the issues. Some still remain and I'm having to live them! Will be interested to know if that resolves it. I find anything beyond half the volume on B&O and it's pretty awful. Vibrations, sound quality etc it's just terrible. I question whether it was properly tested or maybe they had it done by someone who is deaf as anyone with half decent hearing would have thrown it out and not let it go into production.

I'm hoping they'll sort mine. I have a 2017 Audi TT with the B&O system and it's near enough flawless - so I'm expecting my S4 to be the same if not better.

I can't recall how much it was to stick the "comfort & sound pack on" when I ordered mine but I think suffice to say it's roughly £1,000. Now if I spent that on a sound system for my house I'd expect it to be pretty good and no doubt it would be. Why the B&O in the car is so woefully awful for such a price is beyond me. Audi should ditch B&O or focus of quality of components and finish.

You need to deduct the prices of the rear camera an the advanced key off the cost of the comfort and sound pack to be fair.
You might find the b&o awful but there are a number of owners who actually find it just fine..

Is there any chance you can get a description of exactly what they did to fix it? So that I can pass the details on to the dealership for when mine is in next week.
