    Hello, Ladies & Gents,

I just bought my friend brand new Audi A4 S-line 190 Quattro and I am looking to get some help regarding a retrofit. I did not tick the Driver's Assistance Package because a) loads of useless things in it b) nearly 80% of the package consists of stuff you already have on your vehicle when you have S-line trim but they just enable the code. Probably you are paying £1300 for the radar sensors, to be honest.

Anyway back on topic. The only thing I am very keen to have is the Active Lane Assist. Not to be confused with Lane Change Assist. What I need is the button on the indicators lever to activate the active lane assist assuming above 52m/h to keep the vehicle in the lane using the front Audi pre-sense Basic camera(not the parking one) to keep me in the lane. Now the problem is that that switch has 7 versions. Version with ACC, version active lane assist and ACC, the version with all the above plus the rear washer activation(Avant) and the list goes on. What my vehicle has is only Cruise control, nothing else. It's a Saloon, no rear washer, no ACC, no high beam assist(although I do not think it makes any difference as there is no specific hardware for it correct me if I am wrong though), only normal CC plus the active lane assist switch. To give you all a clue I have narrowed it down to a certain part number so If anyone knows more about this or can verify and confirm my part number is what I need please let me know. 4M0907129GT....all are Zeros by the way, not o.

Thank you in advance and looking forward to your answer

The driver assistance package comes with an upgraded front camera - not sure if that is required for lane assist? If you change it you'd have to calibrate the new one, which is a PITA.

Also check if the A4 has a separate image processing control module (for the camera); if so, you might need a different one to support lane assist. Knowing Audi, it won't be as simple as a new control stalk!

Personally I find ACC a lot more useful than lane assist, which is a bit...meh. I've had it in my last two Audis but wouldn't rush to retrofit it.

You can get this company to help https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/audi/a4/a4-8w/active-lane-assist-audi-a4-8w Needs QK1 which might be the camera https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/audi/a4/a4-8w/front-camera-audi-a4-8w They are also stating you'll need a different windscreen.

All uk models that are S-line + trim level have the QK1 pre-installed because it uses it for Audi pre sense Basic which also comes as standard( yes ze Germans give standard equipment- amazing). For example, I could now download and enable Traffic Sign Recognition. I literally just need the part number for the appropriate steering column. Plus obviously the code for my MMI for the settings. I consulted 3 retrofit specialists as well but no one is willing to risk buying the wrong steering column and end up stuck with a £201 steering column switch. And I can see why, when I went to TPS they confirmed that you have no images all anything. Just model codes. So anyone with prior knowledge on this that done it before would be of great help.

I see you have already posted in Audiworld, which was going to be my next suggestion. They tend to be ahead of us in mods so hopefully the thread they've linked you to will be of some help. Have you tried the parts link at the top of the B9 forum, or a parts request here https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/support-tickets/list

when i have time i will look for the right steering colom. Do you know have the text "speed" or "limit" on your CC switch?

look for your current PR codes and look for the PR code for Lane Assist :) add them together and search for your column

Hi, thanks a lot for your reply. I was looking for an online search engine for Audi parts. I have 7 parts which I know they are wrong. So now it is just a process of elimination and hopefully, it will be the right one. Can I also ask if you know the PR code for the active lane assist by any chance? Thank you, again.
And by the way, my car does have speed limiter, CC(standard), no high beam assist(although I don't think it makes any difference because I have seen A4s with high beam assist and it has no visual difference) and it is a Saloon so no rear washer.

@Eilleen The pre-sense doesn’t use a camera. You need the camera that only comes with Matrix lights for the Active Lane Assist to be coded. This can be activated easily with OBDEleven.

@RJ-8V All Audi A4 B9’s have the pre sense but only cars fitted with the matrix lights have the camera. The video does seem confusing.
It’s the camera that comes with the matrix lights that you need for the lane assist. Check all the posts on this site with regards the matter.

    Wrong,

The presense front system ALSO uses the camera. It 's a multifunctional camera....for Traffic jam assist, lane assist, Matrix, traffic sign recognition, pre sense front. High beam assist and emergency assist.

Im a software specialist for VAG, so im pretty sure im right ;)

Well how come the only A4’s with the camera are those fitted with Matrix lights???

I’ve seen and driven plenty of B9’s WITHOUT the camera fitted by the rear view mirror!! My car has the camera as I have the matrix lights, otherwise it wouldn’t have it!

And for the the lane assist to be coded via OBDEleven then you MUST have the camera that comes with the matrix lights! I’m stating a fact! So I am not wrong!!
I’m not disputing how the pre-sense works, as I have no idea. Yes the video shows a number of sensors inputting for the pre-sense, including a camera, as you pointed out but then not all B9’s have the camera, which adds further confusion. I can’t explain as I’m not a speacialist.

I’m trying to help the OP, and for the lane assist to be coded via OBDEleven, you need to have the camera with the matrix lights. I coded it on my car with OBDEleven and it is very easy (with a good guide on here written by a member).

    The last 25 B9's ( or A5 F5) i coded they didn't had matrix lights............it 's not a prequisite to have the camera.

They still had the camera because of pre sense (or lane assist)

If a B9 does not have pre sense or any other support system then they won't have the camera standard. In some countries the pre sense system is standard (like in the Netherlands).

I don't use OBD11.....i use Odis, vcds and vcp.

Your part number looks to be incorrect
4M0907129GT- PR - AV0 (drive on left), 1XA (multi function steering wheel), 6I0 (without lane keep), 8T9 (without cruise, without acc, with speed limiter)

    I think you'd need
4M0907129MG- PR - AV0 (drive on left), 1XA (multi function steering wheel), 6I1 (with lane keep), 8T6 (with cruise with speed limiter)

Lane assist PR code is 6I1

I'm going through the same process for my SQ5, the stalks arent cheap though, you'll be near £250ish i think]

If you have VCDS or similar, verify exactly what part number you have fitted, and then just find the matching one, with the 6I1 PR code. But i think it will be the MG one above, which is for 2017 onwards cars

no matrix lights here (or any other assistance systems apart from standard pre sense) and i definately have the camera as it had to be re calibrated after windscreen replaced. As has been said im pretty sure its common knowledge that the minimum you need is pre sense basic which is now standard to get the camera and enable these other systems like high beam, lane assist etc

There is lane assist https://www.audi.co.uk/glossary/a/audi-lane-assist.html and active lane assist https://www.audi-technology-portal....-assistant-systems/audi-active-lane-assist_en They are different but maybe here clarifies the camera issue https://www.hazzydayz.com/lane-keep...8w-a5-8w-q5-fy-q7-4m---supply--fit-8472-p.asp
"Please note: There are two variants applicable for this installation, if you currently have the Front Driver Assist Camera PR-QK1, or if you don't have the camera fitted PR-QK0. Usually models with Audi Pre Sense have PR-QK1 fitted. Please select required option below. If you currently don't have the Front Driver Assist Camera PR-QK0, then we will need the vehicle brought to our workshop and installation takes 2-3 working days due to new windscreen and calibration process required."

You definitely don’t get the camera in all models as proven on here when people have posted photos up. My friends doesn’t neither has any of the demos I’ve driven.

Pre sense city (which requires the camera) is now standard on all models (might be different case on earlier cars i would think from cars with sos system onwards) but this is the only assitance system on mine and it has the camera 100% nothing else on my car would require it as i dont have high beam assist or matrix lights etc

i didnt say it had anything to do with SOS as it clearly does not... im simply saying pre sensecity "might" have become standard across the range at the same time SOS was included standard around september last year

The reason I said it was because mine has presense, which came as standard, but no sos as it is a my17. Presense city was a standard fitment on all b9's from when the model first went into production...

I do not have Matrix lights only the standard S-line LED and I can tell you for 10000% there are times that my A4 stopped itself because it detected pedestrians(sometimes falsely) or cars. Anyway just to make let you know I have found the part number for what I need. Basically, I had to swap the PR code of 6I0 to 6I1 which the steering column for the active lane assists. Obviously, the rest of the PR codes have to be left untouched. If anyone needs some help with this I happy and able since I have uncovered a lot of the matter.

Hi thanks for your reply but that partially correct. The correct part number is 4M0907129HG( upload_2018-5-24_12-12-4.jpeg ) which had 2PF(leather multi function steering, flat bottom basically) then switch 6I0 to 6I1 and leave cruise control with speed limiter as it is(8T6).

The HG part has been superseded, you'd need MA as this is from 06/11/2017

What is still not clear is whether the unit is just a plug and play, or if it needs specific setup by dealer, as the module has no coding or adaptations available. It appears to be risky using used parts, as the module does have the VIN stored, but how it gets that info i have not been able to establish.

Yeah sorry, its MG because the HG has been deprecated, TPS said that also. You also might wanna try TPS, they sell it for £198 inc VAT. I have a retrofit specialists who works for £35 per hour, and this will take MAXIMUM 2 hours worst case scenario if you run into problems, so you are looking to no more than £270. Hazzydays is asking for £600 inc VAT, that's amazing but no thank you.

And yes you do need coding as well. But hardware wise its just this £198, this steering switch, UNLESS you want the ACC which in the case you need new grill with the radar sensors

My SQ5 part is different, and is £295 inc vat from TPS

The coding is easy, you can do all that before hand to test it all works anyway, but the coding / paramters associated with the steering module itself i have not been able to find 100% guidance on.

Let us know how you get on with fitting the stalk, and if the only coding required is on the other modules of the car.

ACC on the A4 doesn't have grill mounted radar sensors, the radar is mounted where the foglights would normally reside. Of course if you've LED headlamps then foglights are not needed. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-...8W0907561A-0203300630-8W0907574-/122753122074

    Hello Ladies and Gents.

In order to close this thread, I think it's important to put all my findings together.

Firstly the coding. This can be found on Audi World website at this link https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4...ctive-lane-assist-all-cars-pre-sense-2907906/ . Now, this can be done as easily with OBDeleven and you don't need the stalk for it however it goes without saying ALA will be indefinitely activated. Also as the OP of the given link says CODE AT YOUR OWN RISK but there is a lot of positive feedback on the given coding, haven't tried myself though because I want to do things the right way.

Now, hardware wise, if you want to do it properly like I do, ie just if it came from the factory then you need the stalk. However you can't code the stalk sensors to work without VCP, and for that, you need a retrofit specialist unless you want to buy a £500+ software for just one coding. I am getting mine done at @DJAlix.

If anyone wants any help regarding doing this, for example finding the right part numbers for their cars please don't hesitate to contact me and I will try my best to help you, however, my knowledge stops when it comes to coding new stalk sensors.

What "sensors" are you talking about? Where did you find the steer on the VCP requirement?

Kufatec sell the kit with a coding dongle, that won't be doing any VCP type coding.

What I meant was the steering clock sensors need resetting so the steering wheel now knows that it has another button to listen to. What's misleading on kufatec's product is that it does not specify that. Just by fitting the stalk doesn't mean the actual button works by magic. Also, the Kufatec dongle will try and install the traffic jam assist module/code. For someone like me who does not have the radar sensors, this is actually a scarring thought.

Finally the coding I linked above for enabling ALA, changes slightly when you feed the stalk. Bottom line if you want to do it right OBDeleven is not your friend for this job.
