Audi A4 B8 TDI - K & N air filter issue

Just installed my K & N Typhoon intake to my A4 TDI and an engine management light has come on, this won't let me drive faster than 20mph.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Sounds like the car is in limp mode. Is the MAF sensor plugged in properly? Or possibly a leak somewhere.

The sensor was in yeh but the standard box you get with Audi has another sensor at the bottom, I'm unsure what it's for but it looked like it opened and closed a hatch to increase and decrease airflow... the kit I got from k & n didn't mention anything about it so I did leave it unplugged! I think that might be the problem as I put the standard box back in and the fault never came up
