Hi there, new to the forums. I've owned this Audi A4 b8 1.8 TFSI 2008 for 3 years now bought second hand from a dealer. I have only noticed this until recently. There is a wire that seems to be broken off the front engine side. I have no idea what it is and what its for and if its effecting my car in any way. ( Though I have driven it perfectly fine for 3 years)
My car does have some electrical faults, centre brake light doesnt work sometimes, jet screenwasher doesnt work sometimes.
Has an engine management light which came like 4 months ago but I haven't checked the fault for it.
Just my main concern is this broken wire and maybe might have turned that management light on.
Sorry if the images aren't clear.

Thanks

I'd guess that that is a camshaft position sensor and you need to replace it, can you read off all the numbers that are moulded into the broken part?

Found this online.. How many Camshaft position sensors are there on the b8 tfsi 2008? pic is a auid a4 b8 2.0

So I have to buy a new Central Magnet, camshaft adjustment.
06H 109 259 C INA F-34739-------- Can't manage to read the rest but the first part is enough I believe.
Im no pro mechanic but I can work with tools. Is it a long/diffucult process to take off the black cover and replace the part?
Or to let the pros do the work.

Ah, the "06H 109 259 C" is what you need, result, and now you know what needs to get removed/replaced, quite big it seems!

Edit:- or even a much revised version that seems to be 6L0 109 259 - or maybe even revised again, watch out as you might need to replace the connector on the car harness end as it seems to have changed.

So it might even be an actuator and not just a sensor.

I just had it checked by a mechanic and seems like a easy job apparently. Just unscrew and replace but he recommended genuine audi part and not any other cheap ones since they've had some sort of issues.
Now to chase this part..

Thanks a bunch for your help!
