Hello all,
Recentle bought a 2005 s line avant with non-working remote keys. The previous owner has tried new batteries, with no luck. Is there anything I can try myself before having to paysomeone silly amounts to fix the issue, please?
Cheers, Mike

Try reprogramming hold lock I think while putting it into ignition turn so the lights come on not all the way

As above - this has worked for me previously:

Steps to reprogram keys to a car they are already linked to:
1. Press and hold the unlock key on a remote
2. Insert key in ignition and turn to on (while still holding unlock)
3. Hold unlock while in the on position for 2 seconds
4. Turn key to off, remove from ignition and release button.

VCDS is a diagnostic software specific to VW and Audi’s. You need the software which is free and the cable which is not free. If someone near you has it then they might be able to help you out. If not then the dealer is your best bet.
