Good Afternoon,

Firstly I would like to say I’m very excited to have finally figured my way round to joining a forum lol

I have a 56 plate and I love it! I have a few problems with it and I’m not sure on how to go about fixing these. Having visited many garages and no one seems to really have the answer onit and I’m really now becoming frustrated and upset that I can’t give my car the love and attention I think it deserves

•The major problem is that I have no hot/warm air coming from the AC vents, other than an odd blast now and again from the air from the engine. This morning I woke up to inches of snow so you can imagine how excited I was to drive to work this morning!

•My cruise control (when purchasing 2 years ago) I vaguely remember the seller saying he installed it himself it only works intermittently either not working until you turn off the ignition and start again or cuts out while using it and won’t work until again you turn off the ignition and back on

•Every so often the lights on my dash go completely out for a milli second if that and straight back on again?

• My rear drivers side door sometimes locks sometimes doesn’t sometimes unlocks sometimes doesn’t (basically does whatever the f**k it feels like doing

•Lastly my key fob isn’t alway very responsive or maybe the locking system isn’t alway very responsive to the key fob lol

Any serious help or suggestions on any of these would be very very much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Welcome to ASN, your go to place for all things Audi and more.

The problems you are outlining are all standard-issue A4 B7 problems and some will be connected to module issues or wiring issues.
Before you rush into ripping the car apart, have you considered getting a full diag scan to see what's really going on, if you haven't then I'd advise it, there's plenty of vcds members all over the country so I expect you can find one nearby to your location.

The Heating issue can be an airlock at your heater matrix, it's not always that but if you have no issues with the car engine getting up to temp etc then try bleeding the cooling system first and see what happens, its a very common issue and easy to address before looking at the stat etc.

Cruise control can be a bit iffy when not installed properly, vcds will ping up any issues there and will let you recode it properly if that is required.
the key fob may need new batteries or resynced to the car
rear door locking can be a damaged wire in the loom that runs into the door from the pillar, they become brittle and break if its not that then its a module issue, same applies here with vcds as it will ping up module or wiring issues.

Anyway, there's a lot you can try yourself without spending much, see what occurs and go from there, I'd say get it scanned as well.

best of luck.

Whereabouts are you based as I'm sure most if not all I can either resolve or diagnose.

If Nigel (NHN) cant help you due to location, try searching the VCDS locater on the forum as it will give you a better idea who's close by.

Not sure if its upto date but may also be worth putting a request up on the vcds page for assistance in your area.

Where you based fella ,might need a scan in next few weeks if everything goes to plan

A few faults in there then.

Did you clear the log and then rescan to see what was still showing as a fault Alex.

He did clear the log and I believe most of the ones were still there after the second scan

Yes these remaing are active faults. Ryan did mention an intimitant fault with the o/s/r door not always locking so advised him to check the wiring in the gators first for the common broken wire fault.

Im thinking theres a lot of faults being caused by one minor issue somewhere, and being on the can network its projecting that issues across other systems.

Looking for a scan fella ,coil light started flashing after about 10-20 miles of motorway ,now eml on
Obviously beer tokens in the offing
I’m in notts

Do you mean "coil" or oil?
You've had your balance shaft changed haven't you?
What else have you done so far?

I'm over in Lincs if you're really stuck.

Lol glow plug light ,yes oil pump work done
I’ve done nothing yet as my mot was running out 25/3 so whilst there was no warning /eml on I thought I’d leave everything till after mot which I had on Wednesday
So mot went fine but he mentioned a bit smelly and needs a good run ,so that’s what I did same night a good 60mile up and down m1 ,about 10-20 miles in glow plug light started flashing then a bit later eml came on,as mentioned no difference in performance
Guessing the dpf needing regen and being unable to.Sorted someone to plug it in Monday while I’m off work cheers bud
I was always waiting for the mot before egr/inlet manifold and dpf were going ..maybe Sooner rather than later now

Anyone advise with these found faults
I’ve read same issues with others here that have replaced maf and throttle body only for codes to persist
Thanks

You haven't changed your flapped manifold yet then? The motor has a intermittent fault clearly.
Strange, because when I changed mine to a BKD it didn't bring any fault codes up at all. Swapping it might remove that fault code.
So glad I don't have a DPF, nothing but trouble.

Haven’t done the manifold yet ,my fault code relates to the inlet manifold flap/asv or throttle body as it would be called in a petrol and I think this is causing the maf fault
Stripped the asv down and it was full of oil..no stripped gear teeth ,tried cleaning and drying but to no avail
Sourced and fitted a new one yesterday and glow plug light has gone out but the ecs or eml is still on
Heard this can take a few cycles of no faults to go out ..hoping to get back to the kindly forum member who scanned it at the weekend to check

That's weird as well, the ASV only comes into play when you shut down the engine. Unsurprisingly it closes and so is supposed to reduce shudder from the engine. How much it actually does is debatable because it can be removed too will little ill effect apart from bringing on your EML, that can be mapped out with a remap.
So unless yours was closing prematurely whilst running reducing your airflow it shouldn't affect things.
If you're keeping your EGR valve and that is playing up I still have mine in fairly decent nick.
I didn't have a spare ASV though.
What do you mean by the "glow plug light" too? I don't have one.

The one that comes on as you turn your ignition ,preheater to warm your glow plugs that goes out to tell you to start car
Mine new asv has made a massive difference to shut down ..no judder ,so mine has been goosed the whole time
I can only presume signals are sent between this and the maf which according to my fault code are intermittent which has meant the right signals aren’t being received by ecu to instigate regen

Mine wasn’t doing anything at all ,just sat open
Could hear the signals being received by it but no action on the flap

Wow, every day's s school day. I hadn't even noticed a glow plug circuit light on my dash. It certainly doesn't get much chance to pre-heat, even in Winter it must flash briefly and goes off at first key turn.
The guy (Facebook) that told me he took his ASV off and it didn't really affect his shutdown judder wise.

Hi my reverse light brake light and rear indicator are all not working at the moment any ideas please

Much appreciated

Check the connection in the rear light clusters, they tend to burn out the earth pin causing issues

Sounds like a poor contact, pull both rear lamp assemblies and check the contacts and wiring etc.
