Audi A3 TDI 2012 Dimmed Headlight

Hello my name is Joel and 2 weeks ago my left headlight went out and I got a warning on my dashboard(Left Dipped Headlight). I figured out it was going to be easy to replace a light so I contacted Audi and got a new bulb for $23 and replaced it myself. A week later the right one went(Right dipped headlight) out and I bought another bulb and replaced it myself except this time the light still doesn't work and the warning light is still on.
I got a code reader which didn't tell me anything really. So I wanted to know which code readers I should use and also does anyone have any idea what else could be wrong.
