Hi guys.

Last week, driving home doing around 60mph and suddenly my car dropped dramatically in power, wouldnt get me above 30mph and struggling to stay alive. I nursed it home and called my mechanic.

He came and started it and told me it seemed to be the turbo but he couldnt look at it for about 3 weeks so myself and my gf's dad decided to take the turbo out and have a look.

Turbo was perfect. 100%.

We took off the dpf filter and removed the guts so to speak and it was blocked solid.

Welded it back up, built the car back together and took it for a test drive.

Struggled at first as it had to get rid of the build it left in it but it seems to "hickup" between 0-30mph then it builds up speed reaching 60-65mph occasionally (during all day testing up and down my road) the yellow wire warning light would blink and my car would go into limp mode.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Going to get a mechanic out this week but not knowing whats up is doing my head in.

Cheers

That sounds absolutely f&€$}#d

Get VCDS onto it.

Also on the Quattro getting the dpf out is a big job, well done getting it done

Now you've took the insides of the DPF out you're going to have to take it to a tuner for it to be able to run properly (whether that was the problem to start with or not) as you now need to have the DPF mapped out of the ecu or the car will be thinking that the DPF should still be there

Forget the mechanic! Sounds as if you've managed very well without him/her :highly amused: As said above, you'll need a remap as the various sensors in the DPF area will be tailored to measure a normal DPF filling with carbon (and then burning it) from time to time.

It was definately a challange - maybe one I hope not to ever have to do again. Felt good building it back together and it actually starting for me. before removing the DPF the car wouldn't even stay started and after the removal it starts with a struggle but idles perfectly.

So got it on the vcds tonight and it brought up the following faults:

(And advice or comments welcome guys)

Now you should clear the VCDS codes and then drive the car for 5 minutes then give us another read of the VCDS errors.

From the list the only issue you should be tracking down is:
P0299 - 006 - Control Range Not Reached - Intermittent - MIL ON
In my opinion it may just be a vacuum leak, grap the pipe where it goes in the N75 block and suck on the vacuum to judge if there is a leak (obvioejy use the mytivac or brake bleed tool if you have it)

Also with regards to DPF Delete remap, if your sensor is faulty which it will be (G450) the dpf light will remain on, not many are capable of removing this sensor in software.

If your intake manifold is plastic it may well be leaking at the butterfly joint

Some way or another your car is under boosting which a remap could possibly be the cure of too. The VNT of your turbo have a 5V linear resistor, which provides feedback of the position which is used by the ecu to determine the levels of turbo actuator movement boost with respect to then vacuum
