Good Morning everyone , Iam a little desperate and extremely upset at Audi ! About two weeks ago Iam driving to work on a beautiful 45 degree morning there was an accident on the parkway so I was going about 35 mph when all the sudden I hear and explosion and my moon roof glass fall all over me! Had to even take glass out of my eye!! Has this happened to anyone on an A3 ? Audi is now trying to say a rock hit it but i know for a fact nothing hit it !! My car is 11 months !

im not convinced a rock has hit that, id also ask them to prove it. - which they won't be able too.

its not the first we've heard of moon roofs going bang, so we all know they're capable of it.

sod the dealer - give them one chance, they haven't pleased you, go to Audi UK.

I've had a sunroof in every car I've owned and touch wood never had one go on me.

I'm not convinced this is a problem down to the car; I've seen a lot of weird chunks of cars; rocks; asphalt flying around - usually from other cars kicking it up - usually from the other side of the road. And sometimes the proverbial happens and it hits your car; it's probably extremely bad luck if it manages to hit the pano roof. Whether the glass should have a film to prevent it spraying the driver is the question - and I think at the moment this is extremely dangerous that the people in the cabin can be showered. At 70 mph it could lead to a fatal accident which is not acceptable.

I've heard of the rear screen explode due to a build of heat on boiling hot days when the car has had all windows up.

The only window glass on a car that is laminated is the windscreen as obviously if it was tempered like the rest of the glass it would shatter easily which isn't particularly desirable... unless you are trapped in the car & hence why the other glass isn't usually laminated so that you can break it easily in an accident (unless it's a 'special protection' vehicle or you've applied a tinted film).TBH being the pessimist / defensive driver that I am whenever I've had a car with any glass roof panel I usually drive with the blind covering it in case of this happening & only retract the blind when the glass is open.

As the OP mentions they had slowed for an accident it does sound likely that there was additional debris on the road surface being picked up by other vehicles & flicked about, so just an unfortunate victim of circumstance in this case imho.

I'm guessing from some words used by the OP that they're not in the UK...

I thought the same, 45 degrees Celsius is common in places like Saudi Arabia, but not in the early morning. I think Farenheit's your man!
I would have thought that a film could have been applied to prevent the disintegration of the glass albeit not as thick/tough as that in the windscreen.

My old Bosses TVR FRONT windscreen shattered from the inside out due to heat just sat in the staff car park all day, I know it's a TVR and not Audi but heat can do funny things to glass
