Hello,
I am looking forward to buying an Audi A3 8L (1.8).
I have noticed that the cars made 1996-2000 have older model board computer than the ones from 2000-2003. Do both board computers show the same information? Is there any other difference other than the visual design? Are there any other technical differences in the cars made before 2000 and the ones made after? (To see both board computers google 8L0919860A for the older one and 8L0920950A for the newer).
Thanks in advance!

8L0919860A

pre facelift (up to 2000)
non canbus
cable throttle
AGN Engine
Motronic 3.8.3 ECU

8L0920950A

Facelift (2000 - 2003)
Canbus
Wire Throttle (electronic)
APG Engine
Motronic 7.5 ECU
ESP/ASR (available in some regions)

both will convey the necessary information for warning lights, facelifts ones just look nicer but are prone to pixel failure, pre facelift ones are just basic warning led lights that wont fade, but has a dated look to them

Thanks a lot for the information.
I didn't mention i am talking about manual transmission. Both of them seem to have the ESP/ASR.
Does the difference in the engine (AGN/APG) and in the Motronic (3.8.3/7.5) only relate to the energy level and the other things specified here:

Is there any other reason to prefer one over the other, other than the difference in numbers in the above links?
Ah and what do you mean available in some regions about the esp/asr?
