Weh hey... congrats! What a fun car... get some pics up when you get it. Remember to get it fully health checked by a 2.7t specialist.

Hi,

Got my 2000 Facelift S4 avant in Silver 3 weeks ago.
Drove to the Caingorms from Dorset and back 1 day after I got it!
Loved every mile.
Just had 80k service done, belts, plugs + brakes etc.
All the obvious faults sorted in service history, washer bottle + divertor valves etc.
Pressure tested and MAF tested.
All now sorted and all standard too.

So much more civilised than the Subaru crowd or should I say herd...
Many miles of family car fun to come!

Question:
What is all this about a FATS time?

Cheers

FATS time a time measured with a laptop running VAG-Com software linked up to the ODB port in the car.

You log the time taken to get from 4200RPM to 6500RPM in 3rd gear. There is a spreadsheet you dump your logs into and it spits out a figure. A very good way (Infact one of the best) ways to get an indication of how well a car is performing.

Standard car should be 6-7 seconds. A stage 1/2 car should be 5-6 a stage 2+ or a basic stage 3 is 4-5 a strong stage 3 or 3+ is in the 3's...

My car is currently 3.2 seconds - with larger wheels and a lot of audio equipment. I could possibly crack 2's if I had standard 17's on and no audio.

Cheers,
Will check this out.

Nosing around the web the VAG COM stuff looks really handy even if i don't modify the car.

noggy blue monster :arco:
please all post your thoughts on the new project
check my gallery... pics seem to be taking ages to upload but they will all be posted up soon...
cheers guys

Fairly new S4 owner - late 2000 model in silver with black leather and not too many miles. I bought it in December 06. First Audi as well, being a BMW owner for last 10+ years. Like it very much so far! Mod's done include : Star Chip, lowered/uprated suspension by 35mm, Kenwood DVD/Sat system with Kicker comp speakers, sub and Ipod connection, momo pedal set and gear lever and carbon lettered number plates. This week fitted badgeless mesh grill and new style RS4 alloys with Toyo Proxies. I should be getting the car into QSTuning in Haywards Heath soon for a rolling road check up as I don't think the car's performing as well as it should. I think the clutch maybe slipping slightly but not 100% sure. I've been looking for some quality LED rear lights - has anyone seen any or bought? Be interested to know. Only post 1 picture so far, but interested to know what you think. :)

Me too, in wittering, cambs. Bought my 1st Audi a week ago, my mate bought an S3, BOOOO! so i thought it would be rude not to buy an S4, nogaro blue of course. Totally bog standard at the moment, 'kin mint though, BBS 19 CH's sat in the garage, just waiting for coilovers to come, then full exhaust and re-map real soon.

Hi Stapo69, take some advise on fitting 19". I read somewhere that they really compromise the ride. But, hey I'm no expert! Unfortunately for me, it'll be a little while before throwing any big money at the car due to family commitments, building work on the house, etc, etc, the usual crap really. Big brakes and exhaust are the main area's I want to do before looking at any proper engine mods. Considering an induction kit, but not entirely sure which is the best to go for. I'm sure someone on audi-sport.net can provide an answer here! Good luck with the car, I hope you enjoy yours as much I do mine.

well there a sticky topic as they will lose you horsepower but give you a better throttle response. the maf on an s4 is designed to draw air from a standing enclosure and not forced through the maf. so its a bit of a whatever you decide to run and get on with personally i thing you would be better off with a k&n pannel filter and forget the micky mouse boy racer big induction kits as they just make more of an induction noise....

my 2 pennys worth but ive seen many cars lose power on the rollers becouse of induction kits but as i sat they will give you a much better throttle responce..

you decide but deffo replace the down pipes as it makes a massive difference
hope this helps you out good luck :icon_thumright:

ps check out our gallery and leave some feedback please cheers...

It's about time there was some sort of SE meet me thinks :)

Is Baldry Haulage still in Lingfield?

Where are they? Not a company that I've heard of to be honest, not that it means much. Only go into Lingfield for the Cage pub, the chinese takeaway and to drop my daughter off for ballet!

Like the sound of a SE meet. Everyone else seems to be up in Lanc's or some other dodgy northern town (no offense to any dodgy northern people!). Anyone else out there interested let us know!:arco:

That's Dan then! :)

PMSL!!!!!

I'M from Lancashire you swine :gun2: :asskicking:  (lived there until I was 22 ;)).

I am down in Dorset but why not show support to the spawn of Satan's Child and all go to watch him run his beast???

Yep, another S4 owner here. My beastie has been off the road for a little over 5 weeks now after blowing BOTH turbos. Currently getting some K04's and other 'tasteful' mods done. Decided to go for around 360-380bhp as I can't afford to fork out for intercooler(s) and fuelling just yet. Also seemed to drink petrol on my normal commute to work when it only had a 320 MRC remap, so that's keeping the temptation to go for 450bhp at bay!
