    Is anyone getting it done?
I don’t know if I should wait till the downpipes are in the uk which will be feb/March time if I can get hold of one or just just fit another make downpipe and just get the remap for £300 ish

I had it done today, only gained 13hp peak over the Stage 1 file so there is only negligible improvements over Stage 1. Larger 20hp gains in the mid range make it feel a little punchier and cleaner revving but there’s no “wow, that’s really noticeable” type change.

The bottleneck is at the turbo elbow which there isn’t a solution yet for U.K. cars. APR advertise 519hp with the turbo inlet elbow on 98 file.

Pops and crackles map is good, active in S or M modes only and disabled in D mode. So a good feature you can switch off if it gets too much.

    Price for U.K. is £250+VAT = £300.

There’s also a low grip e85 map which helps launch control which is a good touch.

    Cold start map vastly improved.

Not sure I would recommend opting for Stage 2 for the small performance benefits, more so the other features. You could probably get the free Stage 1.5 update which would even lessen the gap between Stage 1 and 2. APR Stage 1.5 (513hp) APR Stage 2 (519hp)

Seen this on another forum, mainly I want more sound but not stupidly annoying.

Forge Motorsport do an uprated turbo inlet elbow.
What power did yours make Leo-RS ?

Yes, seen that. They are going to test it next week on another customers car first and then I’ll make up my mind as to whether to get it. I’m not all that fussed with dyno numbers but if I can see that it’s going to be a worthwhile improvement then I’ll probably get one of those too.

    Stage 1 98 file dyno’d at 494bhp
    Stage 2 98 file dyno’d at 507bhp

That was a direct before and after. No timing corrections at all in the map, 0’s across all cylinders. There are 20hp gains across certain parts of the rev range but only + 13hp as a peak gain.

Never got the E85 numbers as just run the 98 map.

APR quote 519hp (98) with their intake elbow so I’m sure once that’s sorted a most probable 520+ being available on the Stage 2 file.

I’m pretty sure I would have had similar figures with the updated 1+ map hence my thoughts that Stage 2 isn’t doing all that much different. I think they’ve done such a good job with the Stage 1 tune that the Stage 2 increases are negligible.

The only benefits to their Stage 2 update would be the Pops and bangs map and the cold start map improvements. Along with the E85 low grip map. Although the car does feel stronger than the Stage 1 map, it’s not all that noticeable. Perhaps a couple of tenths chopped off in the 0-100mph figures but certainly nothing to shout from the rooftops about.

    Stage 1 was 501lbft
    Stage 2 was 511lbft

There were 516/522lbft peaks on other runs but with less HP

It is loud I’m not going to lie but the great thing about the update is you have the choice of pops and bangs or not and even if you do opt for the pops and bangs map, you have further choice of switching it on and off through either S/M vs D mode.

I’ve seen some stupid machine gun fire type pop and bangs maps that just shout out “Hey everyone, look at me, I’m the biggest show off chav on the planet” but this isn’t like that, they’ve obviously spent a bit of time developing it.

I’m personally not sure Stage 2 is worth it if I’m being honest. I think if I could do it again, I would choose the Stage 1.5 offering.

The downpipe gives little to no gains (i don’t understand why to be fair as it looks like a big restriction) - The downpipe is a pain in the **** to fit, 5-6hrs labour and is for all intents and purposes illegal. You will have an issue at 3yrs time when your first MOT is due then have the same headache every 12 months thereafter.

In addition, you get the dreaded wastegate rattle that can’t be fixed. It’s something you just need to live with but it is a major annoyance.

If I were to do it again.

    FMIC
Turbo elbow inlet and cross pipe and panel
    Stage 1.5

If you want increased noise, go for a catback option and keep the downpipe. I do have a couple vids on my Insta of an exhaust tunnel run but this was at Stage 1 so doesn’t include the pops and bangs. Need to get another vid of the Stage 2 doing the same.

Did you have the downpipe fitted whilst you were stage one or was it fitted just for going stage 2?

No, I had everything fitted before even Stage 1 was released 6 months ago. So the Stage 1 figures are with the Stage 2 hardware fitted.

Don't suppose you have an overlay of the graphs? What parts and makes are you running?

    Then a few overlays...

The first run also a Stage 1 run, rest Stage 2...

    4” DP
    Forge FMIC
3.5” Turbo inlet pipe with K&N panel.

I suspect the Forge/APR elbow will give a good 10-15hp on top of those figures. Seems to make a good difference from what I’ve seen elsewhere.

I have the APR Stage 1 & got the APR Inlet system & 2nd Cat bypass pipes when the inlet system came out and have been waited to install it till the APR Downpipe came out so I could save money on installation/shop time. I just order the APR downpipe and race midpipes without Cats 2 days ago and Now my APR dealer is telling me I can not get stage 2 installed without the FM intercooler on top of what I already have. I really don't need the intercooler and I have adaptive cruise control and they say Audi will need to reset the ACC in order to upgrade the intercooler after removing the front. I'm really don’t wanting the front end of my car pulled off paying 1k for APR intercooler and then 5 to 6 hours of shop installation time, then Audi’s $500 to resting the ACC and voiding my warranty at the same time lol…. AKA $2500 later not doing much for me because I don’t track my car and might run ¼ mile it a few times in a year….

Does any have advice on this? Maybe I just need a box of Tampons but I’m not rolling in the $$$$ like that after only buying the car in late Sept. Why would I need the FMIC in order to get stage 2?

I’ve had FMIC since Car was 3 weeks old and stage1. Really does keep temps down and with extra boost you need it.
You can still fit the downpipes but I wouldn’t go stage 2 without it, and you don’t need to reset the ACC as I didn’t.

From what I’ve seen the Downpipe is doing next to nothing to aid performance where the Intercooler although won’t necessarily yield a large power increase but it will protect and sustain the power you already have.

Do you run E85 all the time? If not, then you will need it on normal 93 fuel especially if your summers are hot. The standard cooler is poor for pump fuel use and will pull a lot of boost and timing out after a few prolonged bursts of acceleration.

Labour charge for Intercooler is only 3hrs, not a big job. APR are quite right, the Stage 2 map will run higher boost and that will be the reason for the FMIC being a must.

Good info in this thread. I Like you’re advice Leo. Definitely seems 1.5+ tune on E85 the best Combo.

We’re lucky in Australia and have easy access for e85 so I’m constantly seeing stage 1 E85 tunes on APR dealers here.

Cold start map on Stage 2 still fully alive...

    https://streamable.com/a5ad0

I thought they had resolved this but appears not.

    45secs at 1500rpm
    30 secs at 1000rpm

Finally drops to 800rpm after 75secs.

Engine sounds broken with the decat and cold start still active. Have reported it to APR

Wow I didn’t realise they sounded so bad on cold start!!
The pfl is bad enough with that blowing through the intake sound but the facelift with decat sounds terrible.

    Yeah I bet!
When I start my car up at work I wait the 30 seconds for the warm up phase to finish before I pull away cause I’m conscious of the extra noise

Would say the FMIC well before intake personally. In fact you don’t really need an intake on the car at all. There’s a lot of marketing around them +20hp gains etc but take with a pinch of salt.

MRC don’t do E85 maps either and their maps are just as generic as APR’s.

That sounds terrible. Leo, does it still do that if you cycle all the way back tic Dynamic mode before starting the car? I do that so I don't get this sound. If I don't, then sure enough it is there.

Not sure, I’ll have to cycle it round and give it a go.

Yeah little disappointing they’ve kept the cold start map in when as far as I’m led to believe there’s no requirement for it. (I believe it’s there to warm up the cat quicker)

The joys of having a decat. It is only like that on cold start though, as soon as it’s warm, there’s none of that noise.

I think/hope you'll be pleasantly surprised. I have that exact sound (obviously not as loud as no decat) and cycling back through to dynamic stops it completely.

Agree, cycling through to Dynamic before you start the car significantly reduces it. I'm running decat DP also.
