Hi People, am looking at remapping my S3 in the next few weeks, i was looking at the Revo map but have just found out that Awesome Gti has gone back to Apr ? has anyone got either of the maps and can they let me know there thoughts,Thanks .

That's not to say that there aren't ofther excellent products to be had,like Shark,APR and many others,but this has served me very well,and runs very well on an engine turning out around 500bhp.
Overall,Revo are probably the most popular,and certainly amongst the really high power cars,but a lot will come down to what you want,with some feeling more agressive in delivery than others,and some being more progressive.

depends on many things but ring both see what they provide, how much itll cost, what they want you to have for say stage 1 2 so on
and then also depends how far away it is, amd essex is the neatest for me but from what i hear i wouldnt mind the 2 hour drive to r-tech.
but for the mean time i may just go to amd as there both good.
just dont be tempted by low prices offering you such good hp figures.

ive got a full APR EMCS switchable map on my Audi A3 1.8T FSI.
if you are not far from Milton Keynes you drop into VW racing and give them a shout.
My car was put on the rollers last week and the power was up
from the standard 160bhp to 234bhp.
the torque was up from the standard 185 pound of torque to 266.
and that was on a very hot day.

Just had a similar dilemna.
Having had REVO twice before I can confirm the product and service it is excellent. BUT at near £800 for Stage1 + Select switch, I couldnt stomach the cost for what in essence is `old tech`, and mindful that many others were doing Stage 1 at competetive rates and comparitive gains.
Anyway, I went for SHARK in the end and after some tweakage to sort the DSG torque limiter I am am very happy with the car, it really flies now. The service and support from the guys at SHARK HQ was very good too.
Have a chat with N8 or GNJ Motorsport (SHARK agents) and see what they can do for you.

All of the work has been done by AMDTuning (aka AMDEssex).
The car has been at Stg2+ for around 20 000 miles,with the last 18 000 miles at Stg3 and Stg4,with around 500bhp now,and it has been totally reliable during that time.
I cannot fault any of the work done,nor the effort put into getting it right.
If you want it done properly,look no further.
Like PaulAr I went with the shark stage 1 on my 2011 manual S3. Good noticeable gains at a sensible price. I am with PaulAr, £800 was too much for me for Revo - I am sure it's a great product but shark has a strong following on here for a good reason, performance & good service.

Worth bearing in mind also that the market is VERY competitive right now,and ringing the tuner beforehand,to see what deals are available is a good idea.
Revo's Stg1 was £500 or less when I had mine done,and is currently about that now......not £800.

AMDTuning's own remaps will cost about £500 inc VAT,and they may be able to offer you Revo remaps at a good price also.
Personally,I would pay a bit more for the service and backup,which have been outstanding from both Revo and AMDTuning.
Definitely worth calling around a few. Shark including the switching box (Sts) was £450 when I bought mine. The list price on the revo equivalent was well north of that even given a discount.
Ps your car is awesome, but you probably already know that!

There is a lot of competition between Revo,APR,and several other companies right now,and I think any of them would be prepared to at least negotiate if not match another's offer.

I also like the ability to map switch and use of the anti theft feature without having to carry around and plug in extra box as everything is controlled via the cruise control switch.

APR for me. I like the cruise control setup. I like the multiple programs. My favorite is the kill switch. Now, I see some peeps get their cars stolen after the perps break into their homes and take the keys. We have home invasions here but they want money not cars. I guess the kill switch is an advantage if they can't start it but a disadvantage if they return to your bedroom saying tsk tsk tsk let's go out and start it fella. BTW where did the origin of CHAV begin?
Thanks for the posts people, think i will ring around and have a chat to a few companies i am based in the north west so would prefer to do the map around this area , i do like the fact that you can switch between stock and mapped through the cruise control with Apr i will get some prices, also i will eventually look at a stage 2 map so i will see what options are availible at what costs Thanks

Alex, I tried 3 local dealers and none of them would play ball, I even spoke to REVO direct and they said "no deals on the horizon, maybe Xmas...".
So, Map+Switch+20% VAT was near £800!
The SHARK product was £450 all in and that includes the STS which allows map swapping, valet mode and basic diagnostics. Thats over £300 difference for the same end result, and as I will only be going as far as Stage 1 then it was an easy decision.
I genuinely wanted to give REVO my money (again) but I didnt get the impression they wanted it.

Same here. I was not giving Revo more money when Shark was cheaper by miles. I won't be going any further with mods either so didn't need any further thinking for me. Mind you, Shark are 7 miles away from me so that helped! Lol

It's a bit surprising that they said that as there is quite a bit of competition appearing from Shark and others.
Obviously I'm happy with what I have and the upgrade path to the next software level has been pretty cheap but I would do as you've done now and shop around.

been quoted 598.80 for Apr map which will allow me to switch between stock and mapped which does seem bad and if i was to add a itg induction kit too i would hopefully push 310 bhp 
does anyone know what the clutch is good for ?? and can anyone recommend a upgraded one, i will only be taking the car to stage 2 +.. eventually Thanks

Revo all the way for me. But as mentioned earlier go with someone local and reputable in case of problems or just for general check overs. I am lucky to have revo dealers and amd within 7 miles. FYI revo feels more agressive and this suits me and my driving style.
i've just gone apr... ive wasted almost £1500 on various remaps over the last 4 years and never been happy... its a long list but ive got apr now and switchable via the cruise control... i dont think anything compares to this... best map ive ever had hands down
If i can ask mate, be interested to know what mods have you done to get those figures?
that's what everyone can say.
i wasn't happy with previous map but when revo came over here i went for a straight stage 2+ and never looked back. no issues since. and the stock clutch is doing fine as long as you don't do 0-60 launches, and flooring it in 5th or 6th from 2000rpm's. car is absolutely an monster, and there is more room for improvement...i went for revo because it's the only decent tuner over here..
i would like to say that with either company he goes he can't go wrong. newer APR maps (stage 2+) are being reported as really quick.

just bought an APR CARBONIO ram air induction box for £250 and that was it.
on the day the car was dynoed, the temprature was around 25 degrees celsius.
i also had cruise control fitted to control the maps.
