I Have used Mintex red box discs and pads before and they are as good as OE. The Mintex red box stuff doesn't come drilled and grooved, that has been done by the seller. Doesn't make a great deal of difference on standard pads and discs more for show really.
Had a quick look at what the prices are of non drilled / grooved.

Front and rear pads £50

Front discs £43.78

Rear discs £31.83

Total price around £125 .
The drilled and grooved parts £290 So you are paying an extra £165 for holes in your discs.

Karl.

take a look at EBC kit, works very well priced ok also, I use EBC ultimax pads and they are excellent, will be getting there discs next .

^ wonder what you'd make of Redstuff then !

Grooved are noisey and create more dust and reduce pad life .

Drilled can crack from hole to hole .

Not going to notice a difference out on the road , best for track really .

Pagid or Brembo plain discs .

Cheers for all feedback guys . It was purely a cosmetic thing as they are so exposed ! Think I will stick with normal from what you guy have said

Yep do have them on my b7.
Good stopping power and less over heating. Tested in the Italy mountains. Better than stock in my opinion.

i went for mtec grooved & drilled discs and pagid pads, they were the most recommended to me at the time on here, they're a little bit better on braking but are noisier when pushed hard.
