The engine check light's come on and I was wondering if anyone can help with seeing what's causing it - I thought it might be as simple as the fuel cap, so reset the cap and disconnected the battery for quite a while but the light is still on after reconnecting, so I'm more than a little confused.

Now, you're gonna laugh, but... I popped down to Europarts to grab an OBDII scanner with the light still shining. Got back to the car 5 mins later and it's gone off.

I reckon the fuel cap was loose, which I understand can cause the light to come on.

    (and it's an A4 b7 3.0 TDi - if anyone wants to buy one ;) )
