Anyone heard of this happening!?

Been in my dads b7 2.0 140, hit the brakes (pretty hard) something crunched

And now the brake lights are constantly on, so i looked at the pedal switch, to find the brake pedal is about an inch away from it, can't see what the hell has moved!? Any thoughts?

I'd take another look at the switch, all though it's not touching now the internals are probably damaged.
