Well the loom has not been identified as the cause of these issues so they wouldn't have to, I had mine swapped after each failure because the first time round the injector may have damaged it when it failed.
Anyone else with this problem on 2006 2.0 TDi? Injectors...

Ironic eh, we're hoping that the dealer didn't do his job... I would have suggested it may be the loom, but even a faulty loom frying the injector should not cause this cosidering the whole point of the double seal is to prevent such a scenario. Hopefully it's a one off...

Hi i've only recently joined the forum and i have been reading this thread with great interest as i have a 2007 2.0tdi and it seems to be going off a cylinder when idling and just now and again it feels lumpy when having to hold it at a set speed when following traffic i got hold of a fault code reader and it showed fault code 12546 the book says faulty injector but i googled this number and on the net this guy says the most common thing is the inlet manifold so i don't know whether to have a go at Audi about this 1
I've experienced this lumpy running on occasion, I'm hoping when all my injectors are replaced it will improve this.
If you have the 2.0TDi 170, then you should contact Audi regarding the injector issues, if you've the 140, the contents of this thread is probably not relevant to your issue.
Just got a call from west london audi. They said all 4 my injectors fall into the batch which will require replacement. Audi uk are covering the full cost inc the loom.
The only problem is there is a shortage of the stress bolts which need to be replaced at the same time... meaning I have to book it in for about 10 days time.

Just under 2 weeks ago, the engine cut out at 30mph, glow light flashed etc and after returning it to Audi, they replaced all 4 injectors FOC.
However, despite this, it's just done the same thing again 2 days ago on the M3 at 80+mph in lane 3. Needless to say, it was pretty frightening and I've now lost all confidence in what was meant to be our new family car.
Audi have just called to say they can find no fault with it!! So they're keeping it for a couple of days to see if it replicates itself.
I'd be really grateful for any insights/suggestions as what to do next, as with 4 new injectors, this is worrying.

I would say report this to VOSA, they need to know what is going on with these. They can only act on the information we supply collectively. See the links in my signature.
Most importantly get part numbers, add them to the VOSA report, and post them on here so all the VAG and parts specialists on this board can comment with their experience (that's how I found out I was given refurbs). You're the second person to report failure on new injectors, but we need to know what Audi have been putting back into the car before openly declaring the "new" ones failing as opposed to refurbs.
Certainly not good news though...
If it has one or more failed injectors then it should not start so how can they say there is no fault
I've had the letter from vosa also and have the car booked in for next week. I've told them and will say again on the day that if they are replacing the parts with the same design then it's a waste of time and I want updated ones fitting.
From my conversation with AUK and West london audi was that it was updated replacement parts. But there seems to be very little information sharing.
Had my A4 back this week. I originally had injector no.2 replaced in May, I paid labour and Audi UK paid parts. That has now been refunded and the remaining 3 injectors replaced.
I asked for the part no. and it is A03G130073TX, which according to information earlier in this thread is the updated part. This is also the part fitted back in may, so the upgraded parts must have been around for sometime.
They didn't mention changing the loom at all, is there any reason to believe this is required?

A03G130073TX is the part I was fitted when my number 3 failed in September, along with a new loom. The part failed in May this year. TX as I was told means it is a refurb. If this is the case, then the fault has not been fixed.
Do we know the part number of the updated part that should have been fitted? I was going by information earlier in the thread, but I think we need to clarify the new part number (assuming it does have a new number and not just a new seal).

Took the car in yesterday, the fella dealing with it didn't really know the history of this and told me that they would be using the diagnostic machine to show them if the current injectors were faulty and then acting on it. I told him that was not why I was there and refused to leave until he phoned Audi UK. After the phone call he had written on his pad that he needed just to check the part numbers....exactly what I had told him 30 mins earlier!
I had a call from him 2 hours later saying that 3 of the 4 injectors were the old style (part number ending with 'M') and only one was the new style (ending with 'T'), this was the one I had replaced a week after purchasing it and means that the previous 68,000 miles had no problems, just bad luck on my part!
Anyway the car is still there as they did not have the new parts but they are going to replace the 3 and the wiring loom.

The X on the end means exchange part, so the parts department must get the old injectors back before they will hand over the new one.
That part number was fitted to mine in november so they don't seem to be fitting anything different now
I've just e-mailed John Fitch at vosa to ask if he knows whether the parts they are fitting now have been updated to fix the problem.

Number 3 failed 3 times total on my A4, could be something more than just the injector/loom combo?

Got the car back with 3 new injectors and wiring loom.
Old part numbers removed = 03G 130 073M
Replaced with 03G 130 073T
Now it's just fingers crossed.

After an excellent proactive response from Audi UK directly (I contacted them with my concerns for safety, family etc - I've had no failure) - just picked up my Avant from Audi York and they have apparently swapped the loom and all 4 injectors as per Audi UK's instructions but could not give the old and new part numbers as I requested as the technician hadn't made a note. Audi UK are calling me on Monday for a follow-up report so I'll get them to double check everything for me. Interesting what was noted on the job card was that injectors 2 and 3 had actually logged some faults on the diagnostics. Also, probably just my imagination, but the car did seem to pull better since the work has been done, but that could be just that I've been driving their courtesy car for the last few days and my old brain can't cope with too many changes at once

Similar story with me, no failure but had emailed Audi um with concerns, agreed to replace all 4 if they are the known faulty ones but the dealer are being **** and keep saying they will get back to me for booking the car in but never do. That's Bristol Audi for those of you interested, the customer service stinks and I would avoid like the plague in the future
I also had hassle with the local dealer trying to explain the problem with these injectors they was aware of the problem with the injectors but told me that there isn't a recall at the moment and there isn't a campain out on these at the moment i even had the receptionist tell me that i already had the updated injectors installed so went home contacted there parts department did a bit of *******tting and he told me that the injectors in my car had been super seeded by a new part number so she was telling me porkies anyway contacted Audi UK and they have now booked it in but the dealer wasn't interested until Audi UK got involved

Just had a call from Audi Uk who advised to book it in with the nearest dealer who will investigate this, Thanks Dubdemand.
Good result! I have just had a call from Audi who have stripped my engine down and have the old injectors out to get the part numbers. They will be conatcing Audi UK now with this info and expect to have the new injectors and my car ready for collection tomorrow!
I just have to put up with their little A3 for a little bit longer and all will be well

Mine is now booked in but not till the 2nd of august but the workshop manager seemed to know what he was on about so hopefully all will be good
