Anybody retrofitted a Sub Woofer or upgraded their Audi Sound System to B&O?

I purchased a pretty decked out S4 last week, but it unfortunately didn't come with B&O. To come from an A3 with B&O to a larger car with Audi Sound System is just.. disappointing.

The bass is incredibly lacking and music just sounds flat in general. I know some people love the Audi Sound System, but I'm not a fan.

Has anybody fit an external sub and amplifier or upgraded to B&O? I don't think retrofitting B&O would be worth it since the cost would far exceed doing a custom setup. I definitely want to replace the subwoofer though..

I can't seem to find many (if any) people who have put an amp + sub in their A4/S4. The only build logs I can find are of those who already had B&O. As I don't have B&O, the amp is built into the MMI console and I also don't have subwoofer controls.

It's difficult to compile information on this. I'm not sure whether to attempt fitting an amp + sub myself (which I think would be a fun project) or just go to a professional. I'd imagine their costs would be high though, which might just make it a better idea to visit Alix to retrofit B&O..

Thanks for the links @Tashfeen, @MuPPeT_ON_TouR's post seems slightly helpful. I'll need to ask him how he's planning on controlling sub volume since that isn't enabled in MMI if you only have the Audi Sound System.

Unfortunately the other thread is for a B8.5. The Audizine album link is from 2009, so I don't think they'll share the same wiring configurations unfortunately!

Thanks again for the help :)

I've ended up going with a local specialist to get subs + an amp fitted. Will also fit an LOC. I've opted for:

Subwoofers: JL AUDIO Dual 12W0v3 BassWedge
http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/cp212-w0v3-car-audio-basswedge-subwoofer-systems-93283

Amplifer: JL AUDIO JX500/1D Monoblock, 500W
http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/jx500-1d-car-audio-jx-amplifiers-99400

The subs can actually take 600W, but I've looked at reviews and 500W seems plenty enough. They come with a remote of course, so won't be an issue not having sub control in the MMI.

Having them installed and fitted on the 7th, so I'll update then.
