I currently put v power or super in my s3 when I fill it up. This is partly habit because I’ve had cars mapped to take advantage of it in the past, and partly because I’m making the assumption that it’s a requirement of an s3.

My old m3 used to state 98 minimum on the dashboard. I’ve not seen anything like this on the s3.

is 98 a requirement. And if not, is there any adaptive mapping/ignition advance that will take advantage of it when I use it?

    thanks!

The fuel flap on my 1.4 tfsi says 97 recommended so i go with super plus. I would guess the S3 will be the same.

I always use Tesco Momentum, the odd time I'm low and can't get higher octane and use 95, the car doesn't feel as smooth, may just be in my head!!

Thanks for this. It confirms what I was thinking in that it needs to run on super.

I'd agree with that. Sometimes more lumpy than others too but definitely not quite as smooth. I guess it depends how long its been sat around?

My understanding is that like you say, on higher RON fuel the engine management in the S3 will advance the timing. I usually use Momentum and can definitely feel the difference if I'm ever forced to use 95. Also find it to return more MPG which is a small bonus.
