Another battery issue (or not??)

I've spent the last few weeks sorting out a few problems with the B8, but there is one that seem to be eluding me. I have had the Energy Management Active fault present for a while, the full description as below:

My rear window demist has not been working for a while, and my alarm randomly goes off on average once a month, whilst I have put up with it I couldn't help think that this was related.

A few months ago, I got the right dipped beam warning which seems to randomly come and go and then last week when driving home from work during a heavy downpour, I get the ABS and ESP faults flash up on the dash. I did another scan and a list of errors as long as your arm came up, see below.

I decided to clear the faults and have been driving about for a couple of days and done a re scan and the only fault to reappear is the energy managment active fault once again.

I am thinking that this is a battery issue, I got a battery check from the RAC this evening and the mechanic has confirmed that the battery is fine, it's also worth noting that it is the orignal battery!

I have also done a check of the battery and it has returned the following results (attached), I'm at a loss to think what the problem could be, is there any chance it could be a faulty body control module.

Appreciate your help.

What's the voltage running. Should be around 14.5v if you have a multimeter, again you can run with VCDS.

I've read a few similar threads that turned out to a faulty battery harness due to corrosion so battery wasn't charging properly from alternator. If it's the original battery, then that would seem logical place to start and replace. Battery needs to be coded with VCDS so it doesn't age prematurely If replaced. Again when things are starting to light up like a Christmas tree error wise, then a new battery is the way to go. At this time of year it will be worse due to low temperature.

Look at that fault frequency (86), at the top of the readout, so it's been ongoing. My understanding is it needs to be AGM battery if car is start/stop, etc.

That battery has dropped quite a bit as far as its initial rated CCA, also the car's own interpretation of its present capacity which is 29Ah is very low.

In contrast, my 2011 S4 has 51Ah listed against its original 92Ah rating, the CCA of that battery is still 825Amp EN, it is an AGM and I've prepared for replacing it this February or so as it will be 10years old then and the car's systems thinking its capacity has dropped to 51Ah concerns me, especially if I was taking away overnight etc, though that is that currently an issue with restrictions in movement.

I have already bought a new Bosch AGM S5 013 battery via Costco as they had a 15% discount deal on, and that new battery tests as 975Amps CCA EN against its quoted rating of 850Amps CCA EN.

12.3V is about 20% left, since 12.84V is 100% new.

Trouble is, if that car has smart charging, it would never end up fully charging the battery, so it would need to be disconnected from the car and connected to a charger then after it was fully charged, left for quite a few hours to settle back to its fully charged stable state, before any post to post open circuit voltage checks were made.

You have lost me there, what I said, and I'll try to write it slowly is, if you look at the the battery voltage on a car with a smart charging system, you will never ever measure a high battery voltage, so you handing out what a new battery presumably fully charged would give volts wise and what a well used battery could give voltage wise have no relevance in this thread as the OP was giving us a print out of a VCDS scan and some extra BMS stored stats.

Aye, a friend had bought an almost new December 2018 A6 2.0TDI with a good spec and/or trim level and its battery - its battery let him down early 2020 and it was an EFB!!!! His local garage fitted an AGM and I recoded it for him, I too thought that with stop/start and 2.0TDI it should have had an AGM battery from factory, or did that Audi dealership swop batteries before selling it on?

You're talking about something I haven't even said anything about, clearly thinking way out there, with what I might be saying, but you aren't even reading the short line I posted. I'm talking about a battery voltage, and you go on about the smart charging in the car??? Where did I say anything about that, in my voltage post? Nowhere is the answer. Move on, and take the duck with you...

If you can keep it, on what I'm actually posting, then we'll be fine. To ban me, for posting a correction about what voltage is fine, and you coming at me, with something completely irrelevant, compared to what I posted, is just.... Talk about being buthurt.
 
@NyB8 it might help to consider the chronological order. An "Energy Management Active" message does not always indicate a fault. My car gives it ever since I fitted a dashcam with parking mode. This causes a higher quiescent current than the energy management system is expecting. I'd be worried about the ABS codes - possible water ingress?

@NyB8 it might help to consider the chronological order. An "Energy Management Active" message does not always indicate a fault. My car gives it ever since I fitted a dashcam with parking mode. This causes a higher quiescent current than the energy management system is expecting. I'd be worried about the ABS codes - possible water ingress?

Exactly how old is the battery anyway?

Believe it or not its the original battery! I have a dashcam, but it powers off after about 60 seconds of the ignition being switched off. When I get and dry day. I intend to have a look at the abs sensor for a quick check.

FYI, the alarm went of randomly again this evening !

If you're still on the original battery you need to get that changed asap, otherwise you might be chasing wild geese.
