Angry, 2% Price Rise!!

Most of you know my current situation, I ordered an S3 saloon (see my sig) in March and am still awaiting an allocated slot. I e-mailed the dealer for an update today and he said still no change on the system. However, my problem is compounded by him notifying me of a 2% price increase on 1st October which affects my car!! He has stated that since mine is not yet allocated I will have to stump up the extra?
Each e-mail has been suggesting an allocation in Sept, then October, now he's saying it could be next year!!
I am that close to asking for my money back that they have held for pretty much 6 months, not sure what to do?

Sarcasm is hard on a forum ;)
Surely if the order has been placed in the system before the price increase then they would have to honour the price you agreed.

I ordered my new one a couple of weeks ago and if they try and bump the price up i'll be heading elsewhere.

Your order should be unaffected by the price increase since you ordered before then. I know that my local Audi dealer (Perth) are honouring the pre increase price across the range if an order is placed before October.
Good luck

Me thinks the Sales person is trying it on or full of BS or both

When we bought our current A4 new in April 2009, we got our order in and logged on the Audi system and got an order number on a Saturday. The Sales person and myself were both in full knowledge of a price increase on the Monday. Was never mentioned again & I didn't have to pay the price increase

Know wonder the Motor Industry in relation to Sales gets the bad name it has in the Uk

That's shocking on 2 counts - 1 that you've no slot after 6months, and 2 you placed an order based on the price at the time. I wouldn't pay the extra. Have you rang any other dealers to see if they have a car in the schedule that's available which they can re-spec for you?

Would you even bother going through a dealer, why not just go through a broker and save yourself an average of £5000 for an S3.

I reckon he used you as a figure, probably reached his target that month and pushed you back again and again to the months where he couldn't reach his target, then 6 months down the line he's uses these excuses.

I would ask to speak to his manager and create a sh!t storm of a fuss, especially with that 2% raise.

Threaten them if they take Audi customer satisfaction seriously you would be writing to their head office quoting the person you dealt with along with his manager, then see what their response are.

I did go through a broker.

When you say your car is not allocated, do you mean you've never had a build week or an order number or both?

That's the trouble with brokers I guess. You might get a cheaper deal, but the dealer doesn't care about you too much. Still though, it's unacceptable - 6 months is way too long. But it's the broker your contract is with, so it has to be them that argue the case with Audi, and you with them. I would threaten to cancel if it were me, and just find a dealer to go through.

I have been given an order No. but no build date.

Done that but none available, no cancelled orders, etc. Also, I went through a broker for a competitive price, better than the dealer. If I cancel my order and start negotiating with dealers I just feel I'm starting all over again!
The Audi Experience huh!

I know of a sepang blue saloon that maybe available and is build week 40 and due the end of October.

I've just ordered 2 q7s for January and as the order was placed before the 1st of October I don't have to pay the price increase

I'd kick off, pay original price or just cancel and order somewhere else quick!

Yep, in the next 24 hours I will be onto the dealer and Audi Customer Services.
By the way this is the reply I got today.

Sadly no change from last update and issue is compounded in that Audi have announced a 2% price increase from the1st October, as your order is on the system but “not accepted yet” by the factory Audi will apply the price increase, I would rather be totally transparent so you can make an informed decision as whether you wish to stay on the wait list now knowing this information.

I equally share your frustration with this news but as a dealer we have no further say or influence over the manufactures rules. I would however reiterate that by going through Drive the Deal you will have still achieved the lowest purchasing price in the UK so it would still represent excellent value for money.

I look forward to your reply

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and was told of the potential price increase and that if I was to order now, I would not be paying the increase. It's a March delivery as well

Load of rubbish that they don't have control, you can tell them just how many other people you've come across that have their price locked to pre-increase levels! That's just them lying to you.

I ordered mine last Tuesday and didn't get told anything about that! Going through broker doesn't mean you have a contract with them, they only refer you to the dealer they work with so they get a commission.

Having signed the documents with the price on there, I doubt they can make any price changes.

That's shocking. Unfortunately, it sounds to me as tho' no order has been placed by the broker IMHO

Me thinks you need to get angry with the broker. No very angry

Name & shame the broker

I thought the broker was there just to find the best quote and put the dealer in touch with you. After that the dealer takes over with respect to ordering going forward.

The broker has nothing to do with this, if you dealt with the dealer when you placed your order then it should be the dealer you should be angry with.

So the Broker is Drive the Deal
Who is the Dealer?
As has been said the issue is with the Dealer not the broker

No build week after 6 months. That's shocking!

If you have a signed order form from the dealer then it's completely black and white - I wouldn't pay one penny more than the figure printed on the form.

We all negotiate a mutually acceptable price with a dealer before placing an order for a car (or any product for that matter) - what would be the point if the price can be changed later?

It's not your problem that Audi changed the prices before the dealer put the car through the system, it's the dealers problem.

The Dealer can be any Audi dealership the broker works with.

this is ridiculous, its like going in and buying a TV at sale price in an Electrical store, it needing to be ordered in, TV going back to full price a couple of days later and the store ringing you up and saying sorry the TV is back to full price now, you'll need to pay the extra.

This is totally unheard of and if i were you i'd be arguing my case and not paying a penny more

Look at all you angry owners lol

If you have the order form from the dealer with the stated price and you signed, then he can't increase the price, even if its in their terms you have signed for THAT amount and gave a deposit for THAT amount. Should they then decide to vary the amounts, you are entitled to a full deposit and I would argue compensation too.

However, if the dealer didn't do this with you, but the broker did, then you may have to accept the increase.

So the question is; do you have the order form from the dealer (not broker)?

I'd be walking away from the dealer I'm afraid. They're feeding you bull siht.

Find a dealer that values your custom - try Kings Lynn and see what they can do for you. I had a number of issues with my local dealer and ended up travelling to them for the no messing approach.

cancel and listen to Abyss above - there's an S3 going begging

I placed my order last Tuesday, checked with my dealer this morning about the price rises and they said it won't affect me as mine has already has been put through, even though I don't have a BW yet.

Clearly whoever you have been dealing with at Audi has been d!cking you about, speak to their manager.

Does anybody not read the T&Cs?
I'm sure it states on the back that price can be subject to change. It is the dealer who will usually not charge the higher price. This happened when I got our A1 as the dealer made it perfectly clear the price increase would not be passed into me.
